Zenless Zone Zero Piper Overview
Welcome to our Zenless Zone Zero character guide, where we cover everything you need to know about Piper.
Piper Wheel is an A Rank Agent from the Sons of Calydon Faction with the Physical Attribute and Anomaly Fighting Style. We don’t know exactly when Piper will release (most likely Version 1.1), but since she’s A Rank, you will be able to obtain her on any character banner after her release. You can find more details about the ZZZ Gacha System here.
Hoyoverse recently revealed two additional characters: Lucy and Piper. These characters were not present in the CBT, and it appears they are teasing the Version 1.1 Agents early. (Speculation)
Since Piper wasn’t in the CBT, we don’t have full information on her kit. Even still, we know some information from the Agent Mechanics Intro that Hoyo put out.
Piper will be the second Anomaly Agent in the game after Grace, which opens up a lot of potential teams. She’s also currently the only Physical Agent that is not Attack. (Nekomata, Billy, and Corin are all Attack Agents)
Let’s jump into the guide.

Piper Skills/Abilities
Piper’s full kit has yet to be revealed, but we do have information on some aspects. We’ll be suggesting builds and teams based on currently available information. As we learn more, we’ll be sure to update this guide.
Basic Attack
TBD
Dodge
TBD
Special Attack
Special Attack: Tire Spin
Hold the Special Attack button to trigger Special Attack: Tire Spin, and Piper will start slashing all around her. The charge level of the move will gradually increase while held down, up to 2 levels.
If the skill is used after the first 3 hits of a Basic Attack, Dash Attack, or Dodge Counter, the increased charge level will quickly activate.
EX Special Attack
With enough Energy and Special Attack: Tire Spin at its highest charge level, continue to hold down Special Attack to launch Piper’s EX Special Attack.
Upon hitting an enemy, she gains a stack of Power. Each stack boosts Piper’s Physical Anomaly Buildup Rate. After releasing Special Attack, Piper will launch a downward smash in front of her.
*Power can be stacked up to 20 times, for 12s. Repeated triggers reset the duration.
Chain Attack
Ultimate: Hold on Tight
Piper rapidly spins, unleashing powerful slashes at enemies in a large area ahead, followed by a downward smash, dealing massive Physical DMG.
Core Skill
Additional Ability: Synced Acceleration
When another character in your squad shares the same Attribute or Faction:
When Piper has 20 or more stacks of Power, all squad members’ damage increases.

Piper W-Engines
Fusion Compiler |
ATK: 46/684 | PEN Ratio: 9.6%/24% Increases Electric DMG by 20/25/30/35/40%. When using a Special Attack or an EX Special Attack, the equipper’s Anomaly Proficiency is increased by 25/31/37/43/50 for 8s, stacking up to 3 times. The duration of each stack is calculated separately. |
Weeping Gemini |
ATK: 40/594 | Attack: 10%/25% Whenever a squad member inflicts an Attribute Anomaly on an enemy, the equipper gains a buff that increases Anomaly Proficiency by 30/34/38/42/46, stacking up to 4 times. This effect expires when the target recovers from Stun or is defeated. The duration of each stack is calculated separately. |
When it comes to W-Engines in ZZZ, every Agent has a signature weapon. You can definitely tell as one W-Engine will match the aesthetic and kit of every character.
However, we don’t know what the signature weapon for Piper will be. It will likely be a featured Engine on the W-Engine banner once Piper is released.
Her signature Engine will likely perform the best, but there are other options as well.
Fusion Compiler is Grace’s signature Engine, and it boasts very high base stats. While Piper won’t benefit from the Electric DMG passive, the Anomaly Proficiency buff will still benefit Piper.
Outside of that, the other A Rank W-Engines will all be solid options. We showcase Weeping Gemini here, but other A Rank Anomaly Engines will work just fine.
Piper Drive Discs
Freedom Blues |
(2): Increases Anomaly Proficiency by 30. (4): When an EX Special Attack hits an enemy, reduce the targets Anomaly Buildup RES to equippers attribute by 35% for 8s. This effect does not stack with others of the same attribute. |
Fanged Metal |
(2): Increases Physical DMG by10%. (4): Whenever a squad member inflicts Assault on an enemy, the equipper deals 35% increased damage to the target for 12s. |
Usually, Agents can run a variety of Drive Disc options. When it comes to Piper, we strongly recommend building toward Freedom Blues (4). This is the only Anomaly based Drive Disc set, and synergizes with Piper immensely.
Piper will mostly build up Anomaly with her EX Special, and Freedom Blues (4) lowers enemy Anomaly Buildup RES. This will let Piper trigger Assault more frequently, resulting in a bigger damage increase.
When it comes to your last (2) pieces, you can be more flexible. You can uses Fanged Metal (2) for Physical DMG, Swing Jazz (2) for Energy Regen, or even just a random ATK% (2)-piece bonus.
The main priority is having Freedom Blues (4). You can potentially run Fanged Metal (4) on Piper if you don’t have Freedom Blues, but once you have the resources you should definitely farm up some pieces for Freedom Blues.
Piper Drive Disc Stats
Main Stats
- (4) Anomaly Proficiency
- (5) PEN Ratio%/Physical DMG%
- (6) Anomaly Mastery
Being an Anomaly Agent, we want to prioritize the stats that give boost up Anomaly. This provides an efficient way to increase her damage without investing heavily into things like Crit stats or ATK% stats.
While traditional stats like Crit/ATK will still be beneficial, they won’t be as valuable as Anomaly stats. Anomaly Mastery is especially important for triggering Assault more often.
This can help buff up your teammates that are running things like Fanged Metal (4).
Partition V doesn’t have a Main Stat that works with Anomaly, so it will be less of a priority than the other Partitions.
Substats
- Anomaly
- ATK%
- PEN
When it comes to Substats, things are mostly the same. Try to get as much Anomaly stats as you can.
When it comes to other stats, they are nice to have and will increase Piper’s personal damage, but once again, it’s not a huge priority. ATK% won’t help scale Anomaly damage, but it will increase Piper’s Special Attack damage. The same goes for PEN/Crit stats.
Piper Skill Priority
Once Piper releases, we’ll update this section. Without more information, we can’t give accurate recommendations for skill priority. In general, leveling up an Agent’s Core Passive is the most effective, as this levels up their Core Passive, Additional Ability, and Assist Moves.
Piper Teams
As with all characters, Piper pairs best with other Agents that are either the same Attribute or Faction. This activates her Additional Ability, which provides strong passive buffs.
Piper and Lucy (the other Sons of Calydon member) provide a lot of new team combinations that weren’t possible before in the CBT. Piper can be a useful addition to any team that runs other Physical Agents, and Lucy also can help Piper flex into other teams that run Fire Agents.
Sons of “Cat”lydon
Nekomata, Piper, Lucy
Firstly, we have a team that consists of Nekomata (Physical Attack), Piper (Physical Anomaly), and Lucy (Fire Support). Nekomata and Piper are both Physical, while Piper and Lucy are both from Sons of Calydon.
This activates all Additional Abilities while also having a proper team setup. Instead of a Stun Agent, we have Piper who is Anomaly. This pairs nicely with Nekomata as you can trigger Assault on enemies to raise the team’s damage.
Piper’s Additional Ability will also increase the team’s overall damage, making her a pseudo Support Agent.
For this team, you can technically run any Physical Attack Agent like Billy or Corin over Nekomata. We simply put Nekomata as she’s the strongest option of the 3.
Piper Fire Team
Solider 11, Lucy, Piper
The second type of team Piper can fit into are Fire teams. This is because Lucy acts as the connective piece for the Sons of Calydon Faction and Fire Attribute.
To be clear, this team isn’t necessarily “meta” or better than other Mono Fire teams with Koleda/Ben. This is simply showcasing an option you can use if you have some characters but not others.
It’s very possible/likely that Koleda is a stronger third Agent than Piper, but Koleda is S Rank while Piper is A Rank. This means you’ll be much more likely to obtain Piper compared to Koleda.
This team has a breakdown of Attack, Support, and Anomaly. While Assault (Physical Attribute Anomaly) doesn’t buff up the team, Assault makes it so the enemy takes more Daze. This can essentially turn Piper into a pseudo Stun Agent on top of the rest of her kit.
All things considered, this team will likely be a strong option, but we can’t for sure if it’s optimal until further testing is done.
Closing Words
This wraps up our guide for Piper in Zenless Zone Zero.
Even though we don’t know the full details of Piper’s kit, she’s already a very promising Agent. She provides much needed utility for the Physical Attribute, and she can even flex into Fire Attribute teams.
Depending on what you pull on your account, Piper might be an extremely valuable pickup for you. (Nekomata/Soldier 11)
While we don’t the exact release date for Piper, most players are expecting it to be part of the Version 1.1 update since she was spoiled so early. As we learn more details, we’ll be sure to update this article to reflect any new learnings.
