10 Best Things To Do on the Gold Coast with Kids

1. Movie World

Feel the magic of Hollywood on the Gold Coast at Movie World. Perfect for families who love a bit of action, the park features superhero meet-and-greets that will have the little ones (and maybe the big ones too) starstruck.

There is plenty of variety, with the DC Rivals HyperCoaster (the longest and fastest in the Southern Hemisphere) being a hit for older kids, while the Junior Driving School is great for the tots. The park is well-equipped with plenty of dining options, from quick snacks to sit-down meals, and parking is plentiful.

Just remember, it can get hot out there, so pack the sunscreen.

If you pre-book your Movie World tickets in advance with Experience Oz you’ll save $10 off the gate price and avoid the ticket queues on the day.

2. Sea World

Dive into the wonders of the ocean at Sea World, where deep-sea education meets fun.

Kids can learn about marine life through interactive exhibits and by enjoying rides like the Jet Rescue Coaster. For younger kids, head to the Castaway Bay Battle Boats and interactive splash zone. The shows are a must-see, and for an extra special treat, book a behind-the-scenes tour to see animals up close.

The park offers various food outlets, and there’s ample parking. It’s also stroller-friendly, making it easy for families with little ones to explore.

3. Wet ‘n’ Wild

Splash into fun at Wet ‘n’ Wild, where water slides and wave pools promise a day of fun for all ages.

For thrill-seekers, the Tornado will slip and slide you to new speeds – up to 40km per hour – and the Blackhole slides plunge you through twists and turns in total darkness.

H20asis is a water playground safe for younger children, and they can up the adrenaline in the Wet’n’Wild Junior precinct filled with age-appropriate slides.

The park is well-serviced, with food stalls offering everything from healthy snacks to indulgent treats. Locker rentals are available to store belongings. Parking is included in your admission ticket, so there is no need to worry about extra costs.

Pre-book your Wet ‘n’ Wild discount tickets with Experience Oz to save $10 off the gate price. Also make sure you check the website for opening hours for when you’re planning to visit, as the attraction’s hours vary depending on the season. You want to get in early to claim a spot for ‘home base’, ideally in the shade!

4. Dreamworld

As Australia’s largest theme park, Dreamworld offers a vast range of activities that can keep families entertained all day. Thrill rides, live shows, and a wildlife conservation park are just the start.

Kenny and Belinda’s Dreamlands features themed rides and attractions for younger kids, whereas thrill-seekers must make a bee-line for the new Steel Taipan rollercoaster.

Visit the adjoining White Water World if you’re visiting in summer – it’s the place to go if you would like a refreshing splash.

5. Australian Outback Spectacular

Experience the heart and soul of the Australian Outback with a dinner and show at the Australian Outback Spectacular

Guests are seated in a huge arena where they are served a hearty 3-course meal while admiring the live performances and stunning effects.

As the performance runs for 2 hours without a break (although you can pop to the loo whenever you need to) and a set course menu (i.e. no kids meal option), it’s an experience that’s best suited to older kids.

6. Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary

Get up close with Australian wildlife at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. The sanctuary offers interactive animal encounters, where kids can feed kangaroos and cuddle a koala.

Educational shows run throughout the day, providing insights into wildlife conservation. The park is sprawling but easy to manoeuvre with strollers, and there are several picnic areas if you choose to bring your own food.

On-site parking is available for a fee.

7. Currumbin Treetop Challenge

While you’re at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, take the adventure to the treetops at the Currumbin Treetop Challenge

This high-ropes course is ideal for families with older kids, offering zip lines and obstacle courses that make you feel like you’re flying through the stunning landscape. You can even zip-line over crocodiles!

Note that you need to book a particular session time for your treetop climb, so it’s best to book ahead to avoid disappointment, especially during peak times like weekends and school holidays.

On-site parking is available for a fee.

8. Aquaduck Gold Coast

Explore the Gold Coast from both land and water on a unique Aquaduck tour. This amphibious vehicle takes you around the city’s sights before splashing into the water for a river cruise.

It’s a hit with kids, who are sometimes even allowed to steer the duck on water. The onboard commentary means that it’s a fun way to learn more about the area too.

The tour starts and ends in the heart of Surfers Paradise, where you’ll find lots of dining options and nearby parking lots.

9. Tropical Fruit World

Tour a farm like no other at Tropical Fruit World. More than just a chance to see where fruit comes from, this interactive farm offers tractor tours, fruit tasting, and a chance to feed friendly farm animals.

The 2.5-hour tour may sound long for young kids, but the constant moving of locations and different experiences mean that it’s an educational and tasty experience rolled into one.

The park is quite large, so wear comfortable shoes, and there’s a café on-site serving fresh food and drinks from the farm.

Don’t miss the fruity soft-serve ice cream and the gift shop full of fruity treats to take home! We brought home jars of jam, are addicted to their green papaya avocado sprinkle and now eat our papaya with the seeds, after learning about the health benefits during the tour.

While technically not on the Gold Coast (it’s across the border in NSW) Tropical Fruit World is well worth the extra distance!
