York Tips: Doctor Khan complete treble with Knavesmire follow-up

13:50 – Pledge Of Honour @ 5/1

The action gets underway with an apprentice handicap over a one-mile-two-and-a-half-furlong trip and it can go the way of PLEDGE OF HONOUR.

Dean Ivory’s charge won four times last season, progressing from a mark of 64 to 79, and with the evidence of a second-place finish at Doncaster earlier this month, further improvement isn’t out of the question.

Pledge Of Honour performed well last time out, he loves fast ground, the trip is fine and the seven-year-old is one-from-one at the track. Talented rider Harry Davies is on board and everything is in place for a good run.

15:00 – Al Simmo @ 9/1

AL SIMMO has scored seven times from 20 starts and the prolific winner may strike again in the six-furlong handicap at 15:00.

Steph Hollinshead’s sprinter is a good performer on her day and she still looks to be on a workable mark, judging by her second-place finish to Another Romance, who ran well at Nottingham yesterday, at Salisbury last season.

Good-to-firm ground brings out the best in Al Simmo, which is exactly what she’ll get today and she looks capable of a big performance.

Horse Racing Odds

16:45 – Doctor Khan Junior @ 5/1

DOCTOR KHAN JUNIOR was a big price when scoring over course and distance in a competitive handicap last time out, but Geoff Oldroyd’s charge can show that victory was no fluke.

The son of Muhaarar is a lightly-raced and unexposed four-year-old and it’s possible we are yet to see the best of the gelding.

Doctor Khan Junior scooted clear on the Knavesmire last month, on similar conditions as will be on track today, and the four-year-old took what looked a competitive race apart.

It’s hard to look past Geoff Oldroyd’s charge this afternoon.
