Hot on the heels of its recently announced online series, the WSOP has unveiled the daily schedule for its inaugural Paradise event in the Bahamas.

WSOP Paradise is the tournament organization’s first attempt at hosting a pre-Christmas festival. The action gets underway on December 3 at Atlantis Paradise Island in the Bahamas.

The official schedule of events released late last week contains 15 tournaments that will run until December 14. Also on the roster of activities will be a selection of exotic excursions, parties, and a host of extras for those who qualify for WSOP Paradise on GGPoker.

1,200 players to win WSOP Paradise packages

Headlining the WSOP Paradise winter series will be a $15 million guaranteed main event. Direct entry will be available for $5,000, but GGPoker is putting 1,000 players into the event for a bargain price. Satellites for the WSOP Paradise main event cost less than $10 and will launch later this month.

The online poker site will also give away 200 prize packages via its GGMillion$ MTT. That means 1,200 players will win their way to the Bahamas. Those who qualify via traditional satellites get their main event buy-in covered, help with travel expenses, an 11-night stay at Atlantis Paradise Island, and access to the WSOP’s daily lunch buffet.

Those who win a package via GGMillion$ get an upgraded 11-night stay at Atlantis Paradise Island, access to the lunch buffet, and a $25,000 buy-in. There are two $25,000 tournaments on the WSOP Paradise schedule, so players who win one of these packages can play in the one they prefer the most.

Taking a look at the schedule as a whole, buy-ins range from $800 to $1,000 and there will be $50 million in guaranteed prize money.

WSOP taking on new challenges

One of the most interesting aspects of WSOP Paradise is that it will link to the online series taking place between August 20 and October 2. The WSOP Online series gets underway this week and players can enter the $1,500 WSOP Millionaire Maker. The event will be paused with 100 players left and resume in the Bahamas on December 4.

The new winter series is an attempt to build on this summer’s record-breaking WSOP in Las Vegas. Linking it to the WSOP Online series and running thousands of qualifiers on GGPoker should get the inaugural festival off to a strong start.

However, it faces stiff competition from the WPT World Championship. There’s some crossover between the two series, so it will be interesting to see which one wins the battle of the December winter warmers.
