Kicking off the games was the WPT Opener which boasts a ₫3 BN guarantee and the coveted WPT Prime Championship package. Throughout the eight levels of registration, 56 entered. The heat concluded at the fall of Sriran Subramanian on the bubble to Romain Bier with dominating . Seven players bagged up and advanced to the money round.

The survivors have a one day break before returning for Day 2. They await the results of Day 1B and Day 1C, both heats running on Saturday, October 7 at 11am and 4pm.

Haisheng Qiu wins High Roller Warm Up for first WPT win
The first high roller event was a hot item with 54 ponying up the ₫33,000,000 (~US$ 1,350) buy in. China’s Haisheng Qiu looked to be a sure win as he carried a monstrous stack into the final table however after multiple clashes with Nguyen Nang Quang, he was behind at heads up 72 bb to 36 bb.
On the second heads up hand, with a board that completed , Nguyen fired2 bb (flop) and 6 bb (turn), Qiu check-called after tanking and won it with , Nguyen was bluffing and commented “Wow, good call.”
Qiu’s momentum continued winning two more decent pots to slightly edge Nguyen. The final had was Qiu , Nguyen , the board ran low. Qiu locked up his first ever WPT win and a payout of ₫513,400,000 (~US$ 21,000).
