The World Series of Poker is giving players a chance to win some jewelry and cash in the comfort of their own homes as another Circuit series kicks-off today in selected markets in the United States.
A total of 36 WSOP Circuit rings will be won in three 12-event series in Pennsylvania, Michigan, and the shared market of New Jersey/Nevada. Along with the top prize, all the winners receive a ring and entry into the 2024 WSOP Tournament of Champions, a $1 million freeroll that will take place at the start of next year’s series in Las Vegas.
From the garden state to the desert
The shared market of New Jersey/Nevada, where players in the two states play on the same platform against each other, are competing for larger prize pools right off the bat. Nearly all the guarantees are doubled or more in this market compared to the other two states, meaning players get more value for their buy-ins.
In fact, the amount of guarantees in New Jersey/Nevada blow away the ones in Michigan and Pennsylvania — $820,000 to $300,000 (in each). Case in point: None of the guarantees in Pennsylvania or Michigan rise above that $50,000 mark, while players in New Jersey/ Nevada will play for guarantees in the six-figures twice.
The trade-off is they face more opponents on the way to the top of the payout lists, many of whom are professionals living and playing in Las Vegas.
Cards in the air
Starting this afternoon/tonight (Aug. 16) is a $320 buy-in event at 7 p.m. ET. In Pennsylvania and Michigan, which have the same schedule, the guarantee is $25,000; in New Jersey/Nevada, it’s $50,000. Then it’s one Circuit event a day until Aug. 27.
The $525 Main Event in all the markets close the series. Players in New Jersey/Nevada will play for a guaranteed prize pool of $200,000. In the two markets of Michigan and Pennsylvania, the guarantees are $50,000.
The Online Circuit series in New Jersey/Nevada includes a $215 buy-in $100,000 guaranteed monster stack event on Aug. 20, and a $1,000 buy-in, $75,000 high-roller event on Aug. 22.
Pennsylvania and Michigan’s $1,000 high-roller events, which also take place Aug. 22, have only $35,000 guarantees. The lowest guarantee in those markets is $15,000, something players can find any night of the week on PokerStars. The buy-ins in all markets, though, are pretty much exactly the same.

No word on whether qualifiers will be available to players stuck in the US.
