World of Warcraft players will now have to rethink their strategy when it comes to completing weekly challenges. A recent update on October 8, ensures that clearing Zekvir’s Lair will no longer count towards completing delves in the Great Vault. This shift is intended to prevent players from farming Zekvir’s Lair for easy progress. However, it hasn’t been well-received by everyone.
Why change Zekvir’s Lair?
In World of Warcraft: The War Within’s delve season, Zekvir’s Lair had become a popular destination for players looking to quickly finish their weekly challenges. The battle with Zevkir offered a quick and straightforward way to fill the bottom row of the Great Vault. This is achieved by repeating this fight multiple times. However, due to its relative ease, the battle no longer counts toward the Great Vault’s completion criteria.
The change, although frustrating for some players, was made to balance gameplay. Completing Zekvir’s Lair was taking significantly less time than other delves. In turn, becoming an attractive option for those who wanted to avoid the longer, more involved delves in the game. By removing this shortcut, Blizzard aims to maintain fairness and encourage players to engage more broadly with other available content.
Player reactions to the nerf
Unsurprisingly, the removal of Zekvir’s Lair as a creditable delve for the Great Vault hasn’t been met with universal approval. Many players enjoyed the simplicity and quickness of farming Zevkir. Unfortunately, they now face the prospect of spending additional time on delves they might not enjoy as much.
For those focused primarily on raiding or completing Mythic dungeons, the change is particularly inconvenient. These players liked having a quick method to fill the Great Vault, allowing them to focus on their preferred game modes. As such, he nerfs to Zekvir’s Lair has forcefully changed the playstyle of this player base the most!
Despite the frustrations, players still have options. Even though filling the Great Vault through delves may take more time, the game allows them to choose just one item from the rewards. Therefore, players can still prioritize other content they enjoy and manage their gear progression without being forced to grind delves extensively.
