Wolverhampton Tips: Dark Gold to strike lucky

Wolverhampton Tips: Dark Gold to strike lucky

There are seven races scheduled to take place at Wolverhampton on Monday, July 17th, with the opener due off at 18:00 and the closer set for 21:00.

  • 18:00 – Russian Rumour @ 3/1
  • 19:00 – Oh So Grand @ 7/4
  • 20:00 – Dark Gold @ 10/3
  • 20:30 – Rogue De Vega @ 9/2

18:00 – Russian Rumour @ 3/1

We start with the opener, an Amateur Jockey’s Handicap in which seven are set to battle it out over 1m 5f 219y.

It’s one of three races on the card that carries Betfred’s Extra Place promotion.

Russian Rumour looks like the standout candidate after winning with authority at Bath when last seen on 17th June.

The six-year-old carries an extra 2lb for this contest but shouldn’t encounter any issues with recent form showing great consistency.

He had been knocking on the door prior to that victory with successive second-place finishes at Lingfield and Bath following a 70-day break.

19:00 – Oh So Grand @ 7/4

The Restricted Novice Stakes contest over 1m 1f 104y should go the way of Oh So Grand for Simon & Ed Crisford.

Oh So Grand finished fourth on debut on 22nd June but followed up with a win at Bath on 5th July.

Connections are expecting further improvement here with just four rivals to try and overcome.

Horse Racing Odds

20:00 – Dark Gold @ 10/3

Dark Gold returned from wind surgery and a 160-day break on 6th July to finish fifth at Yarmouth.

That run was over 1m 2f and connections believe a step up in trip – this contest is over 1m 5f 219y – could pay dividends as she looks to land her maiden win.

This is another race carrying Betfred’s Extra Place promotion, meaning three places are paid rather than two for Each Way bets, and Dark Gold should benefit.

20:30 – Rogue De Vega @ 9/2

The penultimate race is a Handicap over 6f 20y with 12, including Rogue De Vega, set to go to post.

Rogue De Vega has caught the eye in his three outings to date, recording two second-place finishes and one victory.

The three-year-old makes his Handicap bow on Monday and looks capable of further progression.
