I taste a bunch-o-wine (technical term for more than most people). So each week, I share some of my wine reviews (mostly from samples) and tasting notes in a “mini-review” format.
They are meant to be quirky, fun, and (mostly) easily-digestible reviews of (mostly) currently available wines (click here for the skinny on how to read them), so you can get right to the point and decide if they’re for you (or not). Cheers!
- 2014 Allegrini Palazzo della Torre (Veronese): A juicy, Xmas cake filled treat for most of the senses. $20 B+
- 2017 Marco Felluga Mongris Pinot Grigio Collio (Friuli): PERKY alert!!! Citrus and white flowers vibrant enough to rival nearby stars. $22 B+
- 2021 OG de Negoce Lot 339 Syrah Da Uve Leggermente Appassite (Terre Siciliane): Juicy, smoky, unique, & more than a little bit on the wild side. $12 B+
- 2016 Ciu Ciu ‘Oris’ Falerio dei Colli Ascolani (Marche): Still deliciously charming in its now nutty, honeyed, developed way. $NA B+
- 2014 CVNE ‘Cune’ Crianza (Rioja): Very good as always. Red fruit dominant, and otherwise not at all demanding. $15 B
- 2018 Avalon Winery Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa County): Hope you reeeeaaaallllyyyy like chocolate! $22 B
- 2021 Anarchist Wine Co. ‘The Skeptic’ Skin Fermented White (California): Call me one of skeptical, but there’s little redeeming about this attempt. $50 C-
- 2017 Arnot-Roberts Gamay Noir (El Dorado): Ah… now this is a little slice of perfumed, high-toned heaven. $35 A-
- 2018 Galen Glen Vineyard and Winery Sc Riesling Fossil Vineyard (Pennsylvania): Very, very nice. Lively, with limes, petrol, and hints of spice. $18 B
- 2017 Galen Glen Vineyard and Winery Gruner Veltliner (Lehigh Valley): Leaning more to the leaner, citrus-and-flowers end of the GV spectrum… Witness just how far quality PA viticulture has come, folks. $25 B+
