The competition is hotting up at Wimbledon as the third Grand Slam of the season enters the second week and a number of would-be title contenders are in action at the All England Club on Monday.

Alexander Zverev, a runner-up at the French Open last month, faces Eastbourne champion Taylor Fritz in the men’s singles tournament while a fired-up Danielle Collins is among a number of top WTA stars competing in the women’s event on day eight.

Tennis Odds

Set betting: A Zverev to win 3-2 v T Fritz @ 4/1

Alexander Zverev and Taylor Fritz have met on two previous occasions at Wimbledon and it’s Zverev who prevailed in both clashes, beating the Californian in five sets in 2018 and in four in 2021.

Both are back at the All England Club in hot form – Zverev has won 18 of his last 20 matches and reached the French Open final while Fritz won the Eastbourne title without dropping a set and he has impressed in week-one wins over Christopher O’Connell, Arthur Rinderknech and Alejandro Tabilo.

This is undoubtedly a tougher test for the American, who trails Zverev 5-3 in head-to-head meetings, but he’s playing well enough to make the German pull out all the stops and a total games line of 43.5 illustrates the potential for this to be a long match.

Zverev might just have the edge so the value could be in backing the fourth seed to win 3-2 in the set betting market.

A Fils to beat A de Minaur @ 11/4

France has two real talents on its hands in 20-year-olds Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard and Arthur Fils and both are in action on day eight, when it could pay to take a chance on Fils as an underdog against Alex de Minaur.

Australia’s De Minaur has made a rock-solid start to his Wimbledon campaign but wins over compatriot James Duckworth and the limited Jaume Munar and a third-round walkover could leave him undercooked for this clash with Fils.

Fils has been busier and was made to battle in his third-round win over Roman Safiullin but he caused big problems for Hubert Hurkacz before the Pole was forced to retire in round two. He won in straight sets when these two clashed on clay in April.

Set betting: D Collins to win 2-0 v B Krejcikova @ 23/20

The best bet from the women’s tournament on Monday could be to take Danielle Collins to win in straight sets against Barbora Krejcikova.

Collins has eased into the second week, beating Clara Tauson, Dalma Galfi and Beatriz Haddad Maia without dropping a set, and there’s no doubt that she’s playing the best tennis of her career despite announcing plans to retire at the end of the season.

Krejcikova has shown some form on grass but it’s been a poor season for the Czech, who has struggled for form and fitness having headed to Wimbledon with just seven singles match wins under her belt in 2024.
