Well, leaving Houston was a big mistake, because at the time i left, i had a little over 29000. and going to shreveport from Coushatta instead of returning to texas was another big mistake. I didnt notice it at first because i was winning at poker when i first came here, mostly because 1 of the 2 boats here has bomb pots. but im usually playing on the other boat which is open all 7 days. (and supposedly has a 24 hour poker room) although some days like tonight the game breaks early.
Resorts in vegas too has 24 hour poker but thats during the WSOP and most people who wont come the rest of the year have no idea. i even noticed 2 1-2 PLO games at resorts on a sunday night and when i was in vegas that game only went once a month, certainly not 2 games on a sunday night. Maybe vegas isnt as bad a place to be during the wsop after all.
I really should be doing laundry right now, but its one of the chores i despise and hate the most and need someone to do it for me. its a shame i went thru life never being married to a good woman. But thats dangerous today when women no longer believe in loyalty and commitment to 1 man for life. the values of civilization were so much better 100 years ago.
Nowdays far left wing liberal white women fight for the right for men to enter their locker rooms showers and homeless shelters so they can see them naked. and so their fellow sisters will be able to experience being raped. when i was born, it was seen as the mental illness that it is. a man would get beat up if he entered a womans only area.
one reason its hard to win is no omaha games in town, unless u play in the once a week game with a 500 min buy and thats awful high for 2-5 blinds. i really miss buying in for 100 everywhere in houston with 1-3 blinds and u did NOT have to bring it in for 5.
the games were still loose as hell, most people bought in 500-1500.
theres hilo a few times a week but since i sleep the wrong hours its never going the hours i am playing. i might be playing say 9pm til 9am sometime and it goes in the early afternoons. 10-20 limit high low. Used to be 4 cards when Ray was in town, now its 5.
i left Houston because of ungrateful and unthankful dealers. i would finally get even on a 1200 pot give the dealer $15, and he would act like ive insulted him and tell me a few hands later most would give him 25 and the other player had he won wouldve gave 100. dealers in texas are so overtipped and spoiled because almost everyone else playing in the game is a fellow dealer. the next day he was drunk in a home game and badgering me for giving the dealer $3 when i finally got close to even on a pot of 400-500. said i should give him at least $6 or $10. and he said i aint going to stand up for u or protect u anymore from those who hate u and want to beat u up.
i think since he dealt me 2 huge hands that week with a total of $19 in tips, for about 3000 total, he felt i cost him a lot of money. and he probably thought i was way up for the past 9 days, when truthfully id only broken even. because of all the losses when he wasnt in the box.
still it was a rash and dumb decision to leave Houston for the video blackjack game at Coushatta. i was once down 4000 plus on it and ended up losing 2400. within the next 2 days i got all of it back except for 300. most of what i was down in coushatta was hotel and uber fees, not the video BJ machine.
and i also found out i still cannot win at poker at coushatta, no matter what.
online poker sucks too. especially if u play on seals with clubs. almost every table has 3 people or less, at least in the middle of the night and if u want to play something besides NL. often its true for NL in the middle of the night too. only a tournament would be a full table.
and now being at a casino i remember how annoying it is to constantly act first in the SB u have to fold all kinds of hand u would normally limp with. only the casinos in NV do it right. i would love to see it banned altogether and i dont understand why them same nits who love to button straddle wont get the whole table to agree to a mandatory UTG straddle in place of the button. much better action but i can only get them to agree to it about once of the 100 times a year i suggest it. why are others so much nittier than me? some even hate the bomb pots and sit them out.
and im not getting in nearly the hours i did in my 20s and 30s. i worry my health has deteriorated so rapidly and i often end up playing very short sessions when up and only a few long sessions if stuck. and its not worth the Uber fare back and forth home to wait 2 hours to sit with $100. i sure would like to live out of the casinos and avoid uber altogether.
but that would save me $1000 or more a month with Uber and add $4000 a month or more to housing costs. $5500 a month instead of $1500-2000. casinos here are terribly high on weekends. worse than vegas because theres less to choose from.
the ONLY cheap way out of town is the amtrak bus which only goes one way and thats west towards dallas. to go east u need to be on the train. 32 will get u to dallas. it will take u to marshall and them put u on the train the other few hours. but u cannot go east on the train. only west. u need to be in dallas to go east on it. (if u want to go to chicago or toledo).
airfares out of shreveport are high. some cities u cant get to. without 24 hour trips with multiple connections. vegas or detroit or dallas or houston are even a few hundred. sometimes allegiant is 99 to los angeles or fort walton beach, which is far from the right areas of florida with poker.
and of course the biggest problem with shreveport is lack of bank of america, or lack of wells fargo to deposit the cash as u win it. motels wont take cash. and i dont know the right people with zelle to give cash to multiple times a month. the closest bank of america is in tyler tx and the closest wells fargo is 90 miles north in texarkana. and it seems the cardroom in texarkana doesnt have a game too many hours a day and some times they lie to u on the app. some night just the tourney.
with all these issues im surprised im still so close to 28k i know this isnt the right place for me long term. i dont know why i had 3 bad poker nights here recently good action in the NL. lost 971 once, 272 once and 200-300 once. the last few times i played.
