Walking Banana Pudding Board – An Easy Summer Party Dessert Idea!

Walking Banana Pudding Board – An Easy Summer Party Dessert Idea!

This Walking Banana Pudding Board is a new take on a traditional family favorite! My husband’s favorite dessert is banana pudding, and my kids love it, too! This dessert idea is a blast because my family can add however much they prefer of pudding, bananas, and whipped topping. It’s really more than a dessert- it’s an edible activity! I have some important tips in the instructions below, but if you prefer, you can scroll right down to the bottom of this post to the recipe.

How to Make a Banana Pudding Board

This was a HIT at our last backyard party, and I know your guests will love it, too! It’s also perfect to bring to an event, because it travels well, if you don’t cut up the bananas.

Ingredients for a Banana Pudding Board

  • Vitamin D Milk – You could use 2% milk, but I do know that soy milk will not work for this particular recipe.
  • Instant Banana Pudding Mix
  • Bananas
  • Mini Nilla Wafers – For this Walking Banana Pudding Recipe, you really do need the individual bags of cookies.
  • Whipped Topping – This is optional, but I like a dallop of Cool Whip in the middle of the banana pudding.

Instructions for How to Put Together the Dessert Board

First, gather your ingredients. Be sure to get the individual packages of mini Nilla Wafers from the store. Eating the dessert out of the bags is part of the fun of this dessert idea! The full size Nilla Wafers that come in a large box just aren’t the same, in this case!

Next, combine three cups of milk with the pudding mix and whisk for three minutes. The pudding will set up in about 5-10 minutes. Place the bowl of pudding and a bowl with whipped topping on the board.

If everyone will be eating this dessert right away, go ahead and place a bowl with cut up bananas on the board. If everyone will be eating at different times or if it will be quite awhile before it’s time for dessert, I would place bananas on the tray with knives, so people can cut up their own. That way, they won’t get brown.

Lastly, layer it all together in the Mini Nilla Wafer bag. I like to take a few cookies out before adding pudding so I can place some cookies on top of the Walking Banana Pudding in the bag.

Tip: Be sure to have scissors available so people can smoothly cut the top off their bag of cookies. That way, they can fold it down neatly to make their dessert.

So, what do you think? I hope your family loves this Walking Banana Pudding Board idea as much as mine did!

Do you eat Banana Pudding hot or cold?

Believe it or not, the Southern way is to have your banana pudding hot! However, in this case since it’s a dessert board, this pudding is to be served cold.
