My last winery visit in Okanagan Falls, before getting back to my visit to the Naramata Bench, is Blasted Church Vineyards. They have very colourful and expressive labels, with a religious bent or Renaissance theme to them, as the winery is located on Parson’s Road.
All their wines are unfined and unfiltered, so some wines may have a dull appearance to them, in particular the red wines. Light, or no filtering, actually is a good thing. Lighter filtering keeps more of the original aromas and flavours in a wine. Heavy filtering can strip away aromas and flavours.
My Wine Tasting Notes

Very aromatics with primarily Gewurztraminer-like aromas. Tropical fruit and Gewurztraminer flavours on the palate plus a touch of lemon rind. This wine is off-dry with a medium body and higher acidity. Pepperiness on the finish. –
Blasted Church Vineyards Renaissance Series Sauvignon Blanc 2023 – A light lemon colour. Medium-intensity tropical fruit, stone fruit, and honey aromas. Dry, medium-plus body and acidity. Blasted Church Vineyards OMG 2018 – a sparkling wine made with a blend of 40% Chardonnay and 60% Pinot Blanc. It is made in the traditional method where the secondary fermentation takes place in bottle before several years on lees. The 2018 OMG was left a minimum of four years on lees, before being hand-riddled and disgorged. A pale lemon colour with tiny bubbles left on the surface after being poured. It has a nice medium-intensity brioche and stone fruit nose. Off-dry but with higher acidity. Medium-sized bubbles. Crisp and bruised apples plus some stone fruits and floral on the palate.
