U.S. Video Projector Imports
In March 2023, the amount of video projectors imported into the United States soared to 102K units, increasing by 27% on February 2023 figures. In general, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2022 when imports increased by 72% against the previous month. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at 163K units in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to March 2023, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, video projector imports soared to $101M (IndexBox estimates) in March 2023. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a pronounced expansion from March 2022 to March 2023: its value increased at an average monthly rate of +3.4% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on March 2023 figures, imports increased by +30.9% against February 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2022 with an increase of 43% month-to-month. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at 121M units in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to March 2023, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
China (55K units), the Philippines (42K units) and Vietnam (1.7K units) were the main suppliers of video projector imports to the United States, with a combined 96% share of total imports.
From March 2022 to March 2023, the biggest increases were in the Philippines (with a CAGR of +4.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline.
In value terms, the Philippines ($39M), China ($32M) and Vietnam ($4.8M) appeared to be the largest video projector suppliers to the United States, with a combined 75% share of total imports.
In terms of the main suppliers, the Philippines, with a CAGR of +10.2%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In March 2023, the video projector price amounted to $997 per unit (CIF, US), picking up by 3% against the previous month. Overall, import price indicated a pronounced increase from March 2022 to March 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.2% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on March 2023 figures, video projector import price decreased by -8.8% against December 2022 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in November 2022 an increase of 43% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $1,093 per unit in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to March 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In March 2023, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($2,798 per unit), while the price for China ($595 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From March 2022 to March 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Philippines (+5.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
