Tuesday Racing Tips: Prometo ready for Brighton breakthrough

Tuesday Racing Tips: Prometo ready for Brighton breakthrough

  • By Admin

There are five meetings across Britain and Ireland on Tuesday with a mix of action to cater for all tastes.

Flat racing on the turf at Leicester gets things up and running and they are joined by Brighton as well as National Hunt cards from Punchestown and Huntingdon. The evening fare is on the Tapeta track at Southwell.

We’ve got a trio of fancies to look out for, including one for Marco Botti on the afternoon card at Brighton looking to shed the maiden tag.

Tuesday Racing Tips

  • 15:10 Huntingdon – Line Of Descent @ 5/1
  • 15:22 Leicester – Hoof It Hood It @ 6/1
  • 16:05 Brighton – Prometo @ 8/11

15:10 Huntingdon – Line Of Descent @ 5/1

The Racing TV Handicap Chase at Huntingdon looks an open affair and one in which the consistent Line Of Descent should be on the premises for Warren Greatrex and James Bowen.

The Nathaniel gelding took to chasing nicely last term, proving consistent over shorter trips before notching his first win at Stratford (2m3½f, good to soft) in April.

Further wins at Cartmel and Southwell arrived in May and June and he was given a break after unseating his rider at Newton Abbot in late July.

Last month’s comeback at Plumpton (2m1f, good) saw him finishing second and this extra distance should be optimal for him now with the assessor having eased him 1lb. He’s on the Most Napped table via the Betfred Betfinder for today’s action and looks an appealing prospect in this Betfred Extra Place Race (three places).

15:22 Leicester – Hoof It Hood It @ 6/1

Tim Easterby’s Hoof It Hood It won in good style at Redcar (6f, good to soft) 10 days ago and may defy a 6lb rise by going in again.

The Prince Of Lir filly travelled on the heels of the leaders in that race, took up the running from halfway and had the race in safe keeping inside the final furlong as she coasted home for a smooth win.

The ex-Richard Hannon inmate had some tough assignments in 2022 after landing her Newbury novice win, but has fallen to a very workable mark.

She likes to front run and, if getting the lead early, could be hard to stop even allowing for the 6lb penalty incurred for that smooth Redcar win.

16:05 Brighton – Prometo @ 8/11

Brighton’s season is inching close to an end and they have a seven-race offering at the seaside this afternoon that includes the Champions Day On Sky Sports Racing EBF Restricted Maiden Stakes.

The mile contest features eight runners and looks a good opening for Marco Botti’s Prometo to get on the scoresheet.

The Postponed colt ran well on debut at Kempton (1m, AW) in third and went a spot better next time at Yarmouth (1m1f, good to soft), going down a neck in second at the line, only getting collared in the dying embers by David Menuisier’s Ashariba.

The earlier Kempton race, meanwhile, has seen the second win next time and the winner shaping well off a mark of 86 at Epsom subsequently.

That experience at Yarmouth should stand him in good stead for this third attempt and, back down a furlong, Prometo is taken to open his account.
