Tuesday Racing Tips: Cabrakan can oblige for Harris team at Southwell

Tuesday Racing Tips: Cabrakan can oblige for Harris team at Southwell

There are four UK-based race meetings ahead on Tuesday with action from Leicester, Lingfield (AW) and Wetherby on the Flat joined by a jumps card at Southwell.

Amongst our fancies for today’s action is one for Milton Harris and son Bradley looking to make the most of going up in distance at Southwell after a silver medal last time out.

Selections

  • Southwell 4.20 – Cabrakan @ 7/2
  • Lingfield 6.30 – Victors Dream @ 7/4
  • Leicester 6.35 – Ithaca’s Arrow @ 25/1

Tip 1

The Milton Harris-trained CABRAKAN (7/2) might be the way to go in an open looking handicap over 2m4½f at Southwell. The 4YO has hurdles wins at Newcastle in November and Hereford in February to go along with three runners-up medals from only six starts in this code so far.

At Uttoxeter nine days ago he was produced to lead late on but the winner got up his inside and had the running rail to aid him as he scored under a good ride from Sam Twiston-Davies.

Cabrakan finished some 14-lengths clear of the third on that occasion and races from an unchanged mark of 110 here, while Bradley Harris claims 5lb in the saddle.

This longer trip looks a plus for them and with Cabrakan featuring on the Most Napped table via the Betfred Betfinder for Tuesday’s action, they are put forward as likely winners.

Tip 2

VICTORS DREAM (7/4) is a lightly-raced sort, now with five runs behind him after finishing second over C&D last week on his second start in a handicap.

He’d also finished second at Wolverhampton prior to that and he looked to have done everything right here last time.

Neil Callan’s partner was on the inside and rounded the final bend in really pleasing fashion to take up the lead. He galloped strongly in the home straight and powered through the line, looking very much the winner at all stages, only to come out the wrong side of a head bobber as Doctor Mozart prevailed for Saffie Osborne – the in-form winner making it three successive wins on the all-weather.

From an unchanged mark of 60 and with a good berth in stall one to go from, Marco Botti’s improving 3YO is capable of getting that first win on the board now.

Tip 3

Dominic Ffrench-Davis has been enjoying a good start to this summer and ITHACA’S ARROW (25/1) looks a potentially interesting outsider for him at Leicester in the Racecourse Live Streams On Racing TV Extra Handicap over 1m4f.

He was a winner on the Polytrack at Lingfield over this distance in early May on return four months off in what was his fourth career start.

He was then faced with a tough assignment in the London Gold Cup over 1m2f at Newbury on his turf bow and it wasn’t a great surprise that he found that beyond him.

The handicapper has dropped him 3lb immediately and he goes from Class 2 to Class 4 company now. He has some improvement to find but is open to progress and with the dead-eight runners, it wouldn’t be a major shock to see him in the shake-up for place money at a big price.

The Rhys Clutterbuck-ridden 3YO is on the Most Napped table via the Betfred Betfinder for Tuesday’s action is worth taking a chance on.
