Thursday racing tips: Put your faith in Believe You Me
With six UK and Irish meetings taking place across Thursday there is a lot of racing action to cater for all tastes. Among them will be the live ITV4 action from Chepstow, where the latest in the series of Racing League Thursday nights takes place.
We’ve picked out a trio to follow, including two at the Welsh venue and one away from there at Sandown’s evening fixture.
Horse Racing Tips Thursday
18:00 Chepstow – Believe You Me @ 13/2
Heather Main has a superb record at Chepstow in recent years, boasting a 33 percent strike-rate, and she can land at the track once again with BELIEVE YOU ME.
The four-year-old has hit form recently and recorded back-to-back victories over course and distance, including a wide-margin four-and-three-quarter-length success here last time.
Believe You Me blew away her rivals that day in the manner of a rapidly improving performer and recorded a big personal best in the process. There should be plenty more in the locker.
There will need to be now that she turns up in this stronger race off a 10lb higher mark, but the sky’s the limit for her at this track and she is confidently selected to defy the handicapper.
20:15 Sandown – Kynsa @ 10/1
There is a good meeting at Sandown on Thursday and this closing mile handicap provides an opportunity for KYNSA, who comes into this race in the form of her life.
The lightly raced four-year-old has won two of her last three starts at Kempton and is equally effective on turf, so might be capable of defying a 2lb rise for her latest short-head success.
Kynsa has gone off favourite for her last four starts, including two on turf, and she has three seconds and two thirds from nine starts on grass. This different surface won’t be a problem.
She has a good attitude and dug deep to win last time, so there might be more to come, and she is still relatively unexposed in comparison to these rivals, so can score off bottom weight.
20:30 Chepstow – Aalto @ 9/2
This closing 7f handicap is a cracker and the one to be on is AALTO, who was an impressive winner of the Bunbury Cup on just his seventh start for Ian Williams and has more to offer.
The lightly raced four-year-old ran away with that Newmarket contest by two lengths and went off a well-fancied 13/2 chance for the International at Ascot on the back of it.
He was a no-show that day, but wasn’t beaten far in ninth and didn’t get a clear run. He would have been a lot closer with more luck and is better than the bare form.
Aalto will need to improve again because he has gone up another 4lb now that his new mark has kicked in – he was running under a penalty at Ascot – but this race doesn’t look as strong as that one and there should be plenty of further improvement to come as he is still lightly raced in Britain.
