Thursday Racing Tips: A Stratford double for us

 | November 02 |

2 mins read

There are a total of five meetings set to go across the UK and Ireland, with four taking place in the afternoon and one in the evening.

There is something for everyone with three jump meetings at Stratford and Thurles, and three flat all weather meetings at Newcastle, Wolverhampton and Chelmsford. The sole evening meeting takes place at Chelmsford and starts at 17.00.

Racing at Lingfield Park has been postponed due to the weather, therefore we only have two selections for you, as our third was coming from there…

Horse Racing Tips – Thursday 2 November, 2023

  • Back Bowenspark in the 13:45 at Stratford @ 11/10
  • Back Striking Out in the 15:30 at Stratford @ 5/2

13:45 Stratford – Bowenspark @ 11/10

Owners had a nice winner with Favour and Fortune winning impressively on hurdles debut last week and they may have another good one here with Bowenspark.

He won his first two bumpers before disappointing at Newbury. He went to Aintree for the Grade two bumper and was not given much of a chance, but massively outran his odds of 33/1 and was a huge eye-catcher finishing very well for fourth.

There isn’t much that should challenge him today on his hurdles debut. Macanouge is the only winner over hurdles in the field, having won a maiden at Kilbeggan and will carry a penalty for it.

Bowenspark should have more ability than him and can get off the the perfect start over hurdles

15:30 Stratford – Striking Out @ 5/2

Striking Out was unlucky not to win last time at Ludlow, as he jumped slightly out to the left when chasing down and was beaten by a neck by his rival.

The handicapper was clearly impressed as is he due to go up 4lb for that effort. Connections will have been keen to take advantage of a mark of 90 before he goes up, so I am not surprised we are seeing him race again so soon.

Having had three seconds over fences to his name, this race looks the ideal opportunity to get off the mark.

The slightly longer trip should not be an issue, and the left-handed track of Stratford should play to his advantage. If he can produce a similar effort as last week, he will be tough to beat.
