Thursday Lucky 15 Tips: Ready Freddie?

 | November 23 |

Having flagged up a small band of frankly lethal, prolific jockeys yesterday, two of their deadly number (Colin Keane and Rossa Ryan) proceeded to beat two of my selections. Point proved at least.

Lovely mix of racing in the UK and Ireland today, so let’s see if we can find a few lively ones for today’s Lucky 15.

Prices can of course fluctuate between publishing our pieces and race-time. As a guide, a £.50p win Lucky 15 on today’s selections, at the prices, and assuming all four were successful, would return around £362 for your total £7.50 stake.

Popular legend confirms that Fred, ‘The Bonus King,’ invented the ‘Lucky’ series of bets and their bonuses. Want the lowdown – all the ins and outs? My colleague Adam has set out all you need to know with this handy guide – take a look by clicking here.

Lucky 15 tips, Thursday

  • 15.50 Wincanton – Ventara @ 4/1
  • 17.30 Wolverhampton – Leveret @ 7/2
  • 18.30 Wolverhampton – Moonfire @ 2/1
  • 20.30 Wolverhampton – Noble Anthem @ 7/2

15.50 Wincanton – Ventara @ 4/1

Any excuse to row in with a Freddie Gingell conveyance at this point – the gifted conditional is running at a 29% success rate in the last fortnight.

Ventara is trained by Joe Tizzard, who’s in very decent order himself. Since taking over from father Colin the yard continues to be feared and respected, and this gelded son of Kayf Tara could be ready to strike.

Nice seasonal reappearance at Chepstow just over 3 weeks ago, running on well over 2m. He gets an extra half-mile today, and though the excellent Brendan Powell was on top then, Freddie’s 5lb claim, plus current momentum, can’t hurt one bit.

17.30 Wolverhampton – Leveret @ 7/2

First of a trio from a cracking-looking card at Wolves. Jockey Oisin Orr has made a great impression since assuming a prominent role at Richard Fahey’s, and the pair combine here.

It’s a 7f contest for 2-yr-olds, and the twice-raced filly Leveret gets the handy fairer sex allowance. Those outings were both over 6f at Newcastle, and revealed plenty of promise. Steps up to 7f now, isn’t well drawn in the 10 box, but has hopefully got time to get organised and competitive.

This duo have plenty of winners and I hope this can be yet another.

18.30 Wolverhampton – Moonfire @ 2/1

6f, 2-yr-old fillies, and a Godolphin/Appleby beauty by Blue Point out of a Dubawi mare. Moonfire is unraced, but gets this week’s history-maker Hayley Turner up top, and given that breeding, and her connections, there’s every reason to be expectant.

John Gosden and Archie Watson most notably oppose with Mrs Morrell and Havana Ball respectively, but Hayley will be on Cloud Nine right now and given this one is bred to go a bit I’m hopeful that’s exactly what will transpire at Dunstall Park tonight. Can’t wait.

20.30 Wolverhampton – Noble Anthem @ 7/2

We’re with jockey Oisin Orr again here, and Adrian Keatley’s Noble Anthem.

This one joined Adrian from Archie Watson in the summer, and has had two spins since – running extremely well at Kelso in a maiden hurdle, then a close-up 3rd on Newcastle’s all-weather flat racing surface at around this 1m 4f trip.

The 4-yr-old gelding gets to run off the same Newcastle mark, 79, same Class, and if showing similar dash here will be right in the thick of it. The change of scenery might just be bringing out a little improvement, too – it can often pan out like that.

If you’re playing, good luck.
