The VinePair Podcast: What Can We Learn From European Drinks Culture?

The VinePair Podcast: What Can We Learn From European Drinks Culture?

European drinking culture bears many similarities to its stateside counterpart, but of course, they’re not one and the same. Ordering a Martini in Italy will likely result in your server bringing you a glass of Martini & Rossi vermouth, the Negroni retains a more nebulous identity than the three-ingredient spec we’ve become accustomed to in the U.S., and upscale, fine-dining establishments tend to be more kid-friendly than casual haunts.

Then again, the World’s 50 Best Bar list holds massive power on both sides of the Atlantic, and largely dictates where tourists go to enjoy cocktails. Congruences and incongruences aside, there’s plenty that America can learn from Europe and vice versa.

On this episode of the “VinePair Podcast,” Adam is back from his European vacation and here to discuss with Joanna and Zach some of what he experienced and learned along the way, including whether the world’s best bars are worth a visit, why wine lists are usually hyper-local, and the unexpected places where dining with a young child can work out. Tune in for more.
