So, boom. You have the Burger King Croissan’Wich; hell, ANYTHING at Chick-fil-A; the original Wendy’s Breakfast Baconator (they tried it); and Dunkin’ Donuts 89,000 breakfast sandwiches.
But then, there’s the LeBron of breakfast sandwiches. The McGriddle! And both of them revolutionized the game when they came out in 2003.
We made our own. And it buss down! Our homemade McGritty is an Impossible vegan sausage patty and JUST eggs between two syrup-drizzled cakes with a side of grits for a full breakfast. It’s the perfect balance of sweet and savory just like the OG McGriddle. Get the recipe below.

Ingredients
– Pancake mix
– Egg
– Ground sausage (or a sausage patty)
– Syrup
– Grits
– Oil
– Butter
Directions
*Feel free to make your cakes, patty, and eggs in any order.
Bring water to a boil in a pot. Add your grits. Turn the heat down and add a top so the grits don’t pop you. Stir occasionally and add butter–if you’d like–so they don’t stick.
Bring a saucepan to medium heat. Drizzle a little oil in the pan.
Make your pancake mix. Put it to the side. Make your patty and drop it in the oil. Cook patty on each side till browned to your liking.
Rinse your pan and drizzle a little oil in the pan. Pour your pancake mix into the pan. You know what to do. We like crispy edges.
Lastly, scramble your eggs.
Now that all of your ingredients are made, it’s time to make your sandwich. We decided: cake, patty, eggs, syrup-drizzle, cake. Do your thing.
