How to Play Honeymancy — TFT Set 12: Magic N’ Mayhem
Silverfuse here and welcome to our TFT Honeymancy trait guide series, where I will be covering how to play Honeymancy in TFT Set 12!
I will be covering how the trait works, the champions to play in it, and what team comps to play with the trait!
The Honeymancy trait feels very similar to the Lasercorp trait from Set 8, but if you didn’t play Set 8, have no fear Honeymancy is an easy to understand trait, lots of fun, and also has cute bees to sting your opponents!
Dive into ALL the new Set 12 synergies here.
How TFT Honeymancy Works
Honeymancy Trait Bonus
Honeymancers gain Bees that deal magic damage to their target every 3 seconds. Each Bee deals 8% of the Honemancer’s damage dealt and 2.5% of their damage taken. When a Honeymancer dies, leave 1 Bee that follows nearby Honeymancers for the rest of combat.
This means that even tanky Honeymancers can do a lot of damage due to stacking up Bees as well as dealing damage back as they absorb damage.
- (3): 3 Bees
- (5): 5 Bees
- (7): 7 Bees, 2 Bees survive instead
When the trait is active, you will see bees on your Honeymancers which means they are active and ready to fight for your team!
Honeymancer Synergy
Here are the traits of the Honeymancers that give the opportunity to create trait webs:
- Blitzcrank (1G) – Vanguard
- Ziggs (1G) – Incantor
- Kog’maw (2G) – Hunter
- Nunu (2G) – Bastion
- Veigar (3G) – Mage
The Honeymancer trait only has 5 units so it does not have many options to overlap with other traits. However, with Veigar being the main carry of the comp, getting the Mage trait (3) into the comp is a good idea. As well as getting Bastion to pair with the main Honeymancer tank, Nunu. This comp can also carry Kog’maw as well which means splashing in a Hunter is a good idea if you plan to carry Kog’maw.
Since the Honeymancer trait has low cost champions, rerolling this trait will be the best option to make your units have better survivability which allows the bees to attack for longer. As well as the comp doesn’t gain much by pushing levels when there are no high cost Honeymancer units.
The only way to get 7 Honeymancers is through gaining two spatulas. The recipe for Honeymancer spat is a spatula and glove.
Honeymancy Champions
Blitzcrank (1G) – Honeymancer + Vanguard
[See Blitzcrank’s Champion Page]
Blitzcrank one of the tanks of the Honeymancer trait due to his Vanguard as well as his ability Honey Barrier which gives him a shield to further allow him to absorb damage.
Ziggs (1G) – Honeymancer + Incantor
Ziggs is an ability power damage dealer with the Incantor trait which pairs well with Cassiopeia or Syndra to hold AP items until you reach Veigar. You will want to pair Ziggs with an AP carry if you only have 3 Honeymancers, but if you are able to hit 5 Honeymancers early then you will have plenty of damage even without Incantor.
Kog’maw (2G) – Honeymancer + Hunter
Kog’maw which deals physical damage and is a Hunter which gives him bonus attack damage (AD) as well as additional AD after each takedown. This allows him to have decent scaling into later parts of the game if you are to reroll him as an AD in this comp instead of Veigar.
Nunu (2G) – Honeymancer + Bastion
Nunu is a bastion which makes him a prime tank of the comp due to the tankiness of the trait as well as being able to be rerolled along with Veigar or Kog’maw. He also does magic damage while healing with his ability Sticky Bite.
Veigar (3G) – Honeymancer + Mage
Veigar is one of the coolest champions of the set as he scales off of the set mechanic: Charms. For each Charm you purchase Veigar gains Ability Power. This makes him an incredibly strong carry that continues to scale throughout the game. Because of his unique ability, this makes it important to buy a charm every round.
This should be made easier by the fact that you are rerolling so you are able to get value in multiple ways with each of your rolls. He has a small mana pool, so with a blue buff and some spell crit he can deal a lot of damage. To cap it off, activating his Mage trait makes him cast twice with even more AP making him a prime carry for this comp.
Best Honeymancy Augments
Honeymancer Crest and Crown
Obviously the Honeymancer Crest and Honeymancer Crown augments allow you to get your 5 Honeymancers online earlier as well as lead to the possibility of getting 7 Honeymancers with an additional spatula.
Bee-st Friends
The augment Bee-st Friends is also set up for this trait as the augment allows Honeymancers to gain +1 starting Bee. When the Bees jump to a new Honeymancer, the Honeymancer gains a 20% max health shield. This allows the units to survive for longer, do more damage with the additional Bees, and the max health shield scales well off of rerolling your units.
Mage spatulas from augments are also strong as it allows you to drop one Mage of your 3 piece and potentially give a Mage spat to a legendary unit to further cap out the comp.
Blossoming Lotus
Blossoming Lotus I and II allows your units to critically strike which is very strong when you are playing around Veigar as he has so much Ability Power that the crit is really impactful to his damage.
Avenge the Fallen
Avenge the Fallen is strong as it makes your Honeymancer units more tanky after 3 units die which allows the Bees as well as Veigar to be able to pump out more damage.
Combat Bandages
Combat Bandages I and II which allow your units to heal up and live longer which gives your Bees more time to do damage along with Veigar.
In generally, economy augments in the early game are especially strong as this allows you to more easily reroll into your 3 star units for this comp.
