Rain has been an unwanted presence at this year’s ATP Montreal, forcing several games to be pushed back. As such, there is a lengthy fixture list on Saturday, and there is still a chance some could roll onto Sunday’s card.

Nevertheless, I can only pick out what is in front of me, and so below you can find my Tennis betting tips for Saturday, August 10, with all three coming from Quebec.

Tennis Betting Tips – Saturday, August 10

  • Set Betting – Tommy Fritz (USA) to beat Sebastian Korda (USA) 2-1 @ 11/4
  • Set Betting – Andrey Rublev (Wrl) to beat Brandon Nakashima (USA) 2-1 @ 13/5
  • Game Handicap – Jannik Sinner (ITA) -4.5 vs Alejandro Tabilo (CHI) @ 8/13

Set Betting – Tommy Fritz (USA) to beat Sebastian Korda (USA) 2-1 @ 11/4

This is one of two second-round matches still to be played following the adverse weather conditions in Montreal.

Tommy Fritz set up a tie with his fellow American by beating Argentine Mariano Navone in straight sets (6-4, 6-1) on Wednesday, while Korda’s first-round contest with Vasek Pospisil lasted just three games (2-1) before the Canadian was forced to retire through injury, meaning Korda should be fresh and raring to go on Saturday.

In truth, so should Fritz after the weather afforded him a two-day rest, and he should be confident of success having beaten Korda in straight sets in both of their previous meetings, at the Monte Carlo ATP in April 2022 (7-6, 7-5) and at the Rome ATP in May (6-3, 6-4), though both of those victories came on clay court rather than the hard surface the Americans will play on this weekend.

Fritz came through his tournament opener with no worries but this is likely to be a much tougher test up against someone just five places below him in the ATP rankings (Fritz – 13th, Korda – 18th).

He made the last 16 of the Paris 2024 Olympics before coming a cropper against eventual Bronze medallist Lorenzo Musetti (4-6, 5-7) and had to take a long flight back to North America to compete at the ATP Montreal, meaning he may not be in tip-top condition still.

Korda claimed his second ATP title earlier in the week by beating Flavio Cobolli in the final of the Washington Open and should be in a confident mood heading into this clash with Fritz.

I think Fritz will come out on top, but Korda can win a set and make life difficult for his countryman.

Set Betting – Andrey Rublev (Wrl) to beat Brandon Nakashima (USA) 2-1 @ 13/5

Russian Andrey Rublev turned down an invitation to compete at the Paris 2024 Olympics as a neutral athlete but has had plenty of practice since his shock first-round defeat to Francisco Comesana at Wimbledon early last month.

The world number six has since turned out at ATP events in Bastad, Umag and Washington, losing his first match in the former and only reaching the semi-final and quarter-final of the latter two.

However, the 26-year-old’s confidence should be boosted by a straight-set success over Tomas Martin Etcheverry (7-6, 6-2) in the first round of the Canadian Open on Thursday.

Things may not be quite as straightforward up against Brandon Nakashima on Saturday, however, with the American emboldened by a first-round win against countryman Tommy Paul (6-2, 6-7, 6-1) on Thursday, adding to his previous good form shown this year.

Nakashima hasn’t experienced much joy in his career against top-10 opponents, winning just two out of nine matches, but one of those came against Rublev at the Barcelona Open in May, where the 23-year-old triumphed in straight sets (6-4, 7-6). That contest came on clay, though, with their only other meeting seeing the Russian romp to a 6-2, 6-1 victory on hard court at the San Diego Open in September 2021.

Like Fritz v Korda, I see this one being a close contest, but the higher-ranked player ultimately advancing.

Game Handicap – Jannik Sinner (ITA) -4.5 vs Alejandro Tabilo (CHI) @ 8/13

World number one Jannik Sinner was forced to miss the Paris 2024 Olympics because of tonsilitis, and the success of Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz, the gold and silver medallists, in France has piled the pressure onto the Italian, who needs to perform well in Montreal to keep top spot in the ATP rankings.

The 22-year-old responded in fine fashion on Thursday as he beat Croatian Borna Coric in straight sets (6-2, 6-4) to set up a last-16 tie with Chilean Alejandro Tabilo on Saturday.

Tabilo shocked Francis Tiafoe in the first round on Wednesday, beating the American 2-0 (6-4, 6-2) before ousting Italian Lorenzo Sonego by the same scoreline the following day.

It’s an entirely different prospect against Sinner, however, who he has yet to play against in his career.

Sinner won by six games against Coric and I’m backing him to win by at least five against Tabilo to land the -4.5 handicap here.
