Tennis Betting Tips: Sinner to claim New York spoils
The men’s US Open final takes place on Sunday and it promises to be an enthralling encounter at Flushing Meadows, with world number one Jannik Sinner taking on home favourite Taylor Fritz.
Fritz is aiming to become the first American to win a men’s major since Andy Roddick at the 2003 US Open, while victory for Sinner would make him the first male Italian player to win the New York title. Read on for my tennis betting tips for Sunday, September 8.
Sinner to win 3-1 @ 5/2
Top seed Sinner has put his recent off-court issues behind him at this year’s US Open and he stands just one win away from becoming the first player since Guillermo Vilas in 1977 to win his first two Grand Slam titles in the same season.
The Italian ace clinched his maiden major at January’s Australian Open and he has since added another four ATP Tour titles to his collection, winning the Rotterdam Open, Miami Open, Halle Open and Cincinnati Open.
The 23-year-old has looked impressive at Flushing Meadows, dropping just two sets to reach the showpiece event, and it is hard to see past him lifting the prestigious trophy aloft on the Arthur Ashe court.
However, Sinner is unlikely to have things all his own way and not only will he have to deal with an opponent who possesses a huge serve, but he will be battling the partisan home crowd.
American Fritz will have the backing of the majority of the spectators at Flushing Meadows and he will be eager to grasp this opportunity with both hands, having come from 2-1 down in sets against compatriot Frances Tiafoe in their semi-final to win 3-2.
But the 26-year-old has endured some stern examinations on his way to the final, playing four sets against Alexander Zverev in the quarter-finals before having to go the distance in his last-four encounter.
The crowd should give Fritz a much-needed boost and that could well see him claim a set, but a fresher Sinner should end up prevailing and land his second Grand Slam title.

Over 38.5 games @ 4/5
This match could be tight in the early exchanges and the games could rack up in the first and second set, so taking the 4/5 on there to be over 38.5 games looks a solid play.
Fritz’s monster serve, which has seen him smash 75 aces in the tournament, makes him difficult to break and it would be no surprise to see a few tiebreaks in this clash.
Sinner is no slouch when it comes to serving, either, with 54 aces to his name in the tournament, and if both players serve well then there is a strong chance over 38.5 games will land.
