Roland Garros French Open Tennis

A new week begins and once again there is an abundance of tennis to enjoy from the ATP and WTA tours. I am back to provide you with tips for the day, with some exciting matches coming our way today. I have picked out three selections, as always, that I think offer good value.

Below you will find my tennis betting tips for Monday, July 22.

Tennis Betting Tips – Monday, July 22

  • Sumit Nagal to beat Lukas Klein 2-1 @ 18/5
  • Anca Todoni to beat Aliona Falei 2-1 @ 3/1
  • Denis Shapovalov to beat David Goffin 2-1 @ 11/4

Tennis Odds

Sumit Nagal to beat Lukas Klein 2-1 @ 18/5

In the Austrian Open, Lukas Klein and Sumit Nagal collide in the round of 32, and I think the latter can emerge victorious from this contest. The Indian star has a stronger defensive and baseline game in my opinion, and I think that it can take him through against Klein, although I do see this one going all the way.

Klein has some strong attributes of his own but I don’t think on this occasion he will be able to match his opponent. If this match can produce long rallies, this will suit Nagal perfectly as he knows how to convert them into points, and he will most certainly put Klein to work.

The way I see this playing out sees Nagal take the opening set, conjuring a response from Klein in the second to take the match to a decider, only for Nagal to hold his nerve and use his defensive and baseline skills to send him through to the next round.

Sumit Nagal to win 2-1 at 18/5 Anca Todoni to beat Aliona Falei 2-1 @ 3/1

There is an interesting youthful encounter taking place at the Iasi Open on Monday as Aliona Falei (20) and Anca Todoni (19) go head-to-head. Both players are still quite raw at tour level but Romanian Todoni is currently slightly ahead of her opponent in development. She recently experienced taking part in the main draw of a Grand Slam tournament, having qualified and then reaching the second round at Wimbledon.

That journey came to an end against US Open champion Coco Gauff, but that experience alone would have been priceless for a young player. Both her and Falei are talented individuals, and it won’t be long before the Belarusian reaches the main draw of a Grand Slam herself.

The other reason why I think Todoni has the edge here is because Falei has tended to show her best tennis on hard courts so far in her career. I do think she will help deliver a strong three-set encounter here, but I do have the Romanian to come out on top.

Anca Todoni to win 2-1 at 3/1 Denis Shapovalov to beat David Goffin 2-1 @ 11/4

From Europe to the USA for my final tip which comes from the Atlanta Open. Canadian Denis Shapovalov is in action against Belgian David Goffin, who has been out of sorts on court recently. Goffin crashed out of Wimbledon in the first round against Tomas Machac which saw him capitulate in the fifth set, having had a 5-0 lead.

This is going to be his first appearance since, and it is fair to say that his confidence is very low. Shapovalov will be sensing an opportunity to build up his own momentum having been disappointed that his own journey at the All England Lawn Club came to an end in the third round.

He has been playing better tennis than his opponent in 2024 and I expect this to show on court in this clash. I don’t think it will be a walk in the park for the Canadian as Goffin will want to turn his own fortunes around, but I do think Shapovalov will take the victory in three sets.
