Tuesday was another disappointing day at the office for myself at the US Open, with another three selections failing to land.

Hitting the middle of the week, I am hoping Wednesday will be the day my fortunes change, and to help boost this, I have gone for four selections today as opposed to the usual three. Below you will find my tennis betting tips for day three at the US Open in Flushing Meadows.

Tennis Betting Tips – Wednesday, August 28

  • Ben Shelton to beat Roberto Bautista Agut 3-1 @ 23/10
  • Ugo Humbert to beat Francisco Comesana 3-0 @ 4/5
  • Aryna Sabalenka to beat Lucia Bronzetti 2-0 @ 2/9
  • Brandon Nakashima to beat Arthur Cazaux 3-1 @ 5/2

Tennis Odds

Ben Shelton to beat Roberto Bautista Agut 3-1 @ 23/10

Ben Shelton gave a strong performance in his 3-0 triumph over veteran Dominic Thiem on Monday, and the American will be hoping to play just as well against Roberto Bautista Agut.

With the support of the home crowd, and the fact that he is facing an opponent who appears as though his best days are behind him and who struggles to record back-to-back wins, Shelton should have no real problems in making it to the third round.

Shelton has already beaten Bautista Agut already this season at the Australian Open, which was also on hard court, so he does have the psychological advantage heading into this clash.

The Spaniard’s vast experience does make me think he could perhaps take a set off Shelton, but I am still backing the American to come out on top in four sets.

Ben Shelton to win 3-1 at 23/10 Ugo Humbert to beat Francisco Comesana 3-0 @ 4/5

Ugo Humbert looked very comfortable as he disposed of Thiago Monteiro in three sets last time out. He will be feeling very confident ahead of his meeting with Francisco Comesana, who won a five-set thriller against Dominic Stricker.

Having played two more sets, I do wonder if a degree of fatigue will set in once we are a couple of sets into this match, which will of course play into Humbert’s hands. Regardless, this challenge will be a tough one for the Argentine against Humbert, but it will serve as a good exercise as he bids to reach the same level of his opponent.

If Humbert is as clinical as he was on Monday, then this should be another straightforward victory for the Frenchman, and I think he is worth backing to get the job done in three sets.

Ugo Humbert to win 3-0 at 4/5 Aryna Sabalenka to beat Lucia Bronzetti 2-0 @ 2/9

After an impressive run to the Cincinnati title, beating both Jessica Pegula and world number one Iga Swiatek in the process, Aryna Sabalenka cemented herself as one of the favourites to win the US Open. She already has two Australian Open titles to her name, so she will be eager to branch out and start asserting herself on the other Grand Slams.

She delivers devastating tennis on this particular surface, which is why she is being favoured to go all the way. Lucia Bronzetti will know just how difficult it will be facing the world number two, and unfortunately I don’t think she will pose much of a threat to the Belarusian.

Sabalenka defeated Priscilla Hon in straight sets in the first round at Flushing Meadows, and I think she can get the job done in two sets once again here.

Aryna Sabalenka to win 2-0 at 2/9 Brandon Nakashima to beat Arthur Cazaux 3-1 @ 5/2

Brandon Nakashima was most impressive on Monday as he dispersed of Holger Rune in straight sets. The American has been hitting some excellent form of late and if he keeps it up, he might just venture far at the US Open.

Arthur Cazaux will have seen how Nakashima outclassed Rune, which looked like the performance of a top-10 player, and he will know that this will be a difficult second round clash.

These two played an excellent Challenger match in Brest last year in which Cazaux came out on top, but his opponent has reached another level since then and is the favourite to win this match. If we get the same level of performance from Nakashima here as we did against Rune, then I don’t think Cazaux will be able to keep up with him.

I think the sensible pick for this match would be Nakashima to win 3-1.
