Tennis Betting Tips: Goffin to continue his fine form
It was a disappointing day at the office yesterday as just one of my three tennis betting tips landed. I return to Thursday’s action at Winston-Salem, hoping for a better success rate with some interesting matches taking place.
Below you will find my selections for Thursday, August 22.
Tennis Betting Tips – Thursday, August 22
Pavel Kotov to beat Lorenzo Sonego @ 6/5
Lorenzo Sonego will be hoping he can secure his fourth career title as the highest-ranked player left in this tournament, but Pavel Kotov will have other ideas. The Russian has defeated Sonego in straight sets twice in the last 10 months, and he has been a significantly better player over the course of the season.
Some of his best tennis has come on the hard-court, which is what they will be facing each other on here, so I think that he holds all the cards heading into this clash. Sonego will be out for revenge after losing the last two meetings, and his determination could make things tricky for his opponent, but I am still expecting Kotov to come out on top again.
Alex Michelsen to beat Christopher Eubanks 2-1 @ 13/5
I thought Christopher Eubanks would get beaten yesterday but he proved me wrong. He now faces another tough test against fellow American Alex Michelsen has been playing some excellent tennis here and will feel as though he is more than a match for the man eight years his senior.
Michelsen has been playing better tennis and is in much greater form than Eubanks, having a 10-4 record from the last five weeks. I am confident that the young star will emerge victorious here, but after three impressive wins this week, his opponent will make him work for it, so I am backing this one to go the distance.
David Goffin to beat Rinky Hijikata 2-0 @ 7/5
Veteran David Goffin has been rolling back the years this week with some impressive displays at Winston-Salem. The Belgian is 15-5 in all competitions since mid-June and that includes three wins over three top-85 players just this week.
His opponent, Rinky Hijikata, will know that he is in for a very tough match here, and I don’t think he will be able to handle Goffin while he’s in this kind of form. The Aussie also struggles with consistency, which makes it hard to predict what you are going to get from him when he takes to the court. With that in mind, I am backing Goffin to win in straight sets.
