Tennis Betting Tips: Eubanks to defeat Quinn in Newport

Another day, another action-packed schedule of tennis. After seeing one of my tips land yesterday, an improvement on Monday, I am hoping for more success on Wednesday. 

From the range of ATP and WTA events taking place, I have once again hand-picked three selections that I think offer good value. Below you will find my tennis betting tips for Wednesday, July 17.

Christopher Eubanks to beat Ethan Quinn 2-1 @ 13/5

In the Hall of Fame Open in Newport, Rhode Island, Christopher Eubanks come up against Ethan Quinn in an all-American clash in the second round. Eubanks received a bye in the first round while Quinn had to beat Marc Polmans in three sets to set up this meeting.

Eubanks is fresh from a disappointing Wimbledon campaign in which he crashed out in the first round to France’s Quentin Halys. He enjoyed an impressive breakthrough year in 2023 but we have not been seeing much progress this season. Upon his return to the Mallorca Championships where he was reigning champion, he was beaten in the first round.

Quinn will be sensing an opportunity against the world number 44, looking to capitalise on his current misfortune. In his previous match with Polmans, he had to dig deep after the Australian fought back to win the second set. Quinn then composed himself to storm the deciding set 6-1.

As a result, I can see this clash going the distance. Eubanks has a lot to prove to himself and his supporters, and we saw last year just what he is capable of when he has confidence. This is an excellent opportunity to restore some to his play, and I think he can prevail over three sets – but Quinn should put up a strong fight.

Stefanos Tsitsipas to beat Hamad Medjedovic 2-0 @ 1/1

Stefanos Tsitsipas is back on clay in the round of 16 at the Swiss Open, and given that it is his most preferred surface, he is expected to venture far in this event. He has been handed a very interesting draw in Hamad Medjedovic, an up-and-coming young Serbian, who is still trying to battle his way into the top 100 ATP rankings.

This could end up being as much of a test for Tsitsipas as it is for his younger opponent. We always see the best of the Greek star on this surface, with his baseline game in particular always most impressive on clay, and that is something Medjedovic will be well aware of.

The Serb missed the first part of the clay-court season due to injury so he is expected to be a little rusty, and it is unfortunate for him that he is coming up against someone who plays on another level on this surface. I think Tsitispas can win this match in straight sets.

Ajla Tomljanovic to beat Astra Sharma 2-1 @ 3/1

Having tipped Ajla Tomljanovic to get beaten by in-form Mayar Sherif yesterday in the Palermo Ladies Open, I was very surprised to see the Australian emerge victorious. This is because she hadn’t been in great form heading into this clash and to play the way she did against someone who had been the runner-up in her last four events was very impressive.

That victory will have done wonders for her confidence and I think that this can carry her through her round of 16 clash against compatriot Astra Sharma, who has failed to get past the first round in her two previous events this month.

Her victory over Audrey Albie will have lifted her own confidence, but I think she will get beaten by Tomljanovic. However, it won’t be easy for the 31-year-old. Sharma will present her with a challenge and I can see her taking a set. Therefore, I think the sensible selection would be for Tomljanovic to win in three sets.
