Teamfight Tactics Meta: Best Comps and Builds for TFT Set 12 (Patch 14.15)

Teamfight Tactics Meta: Best Comps and Builds for TFT Set 12 (Patch 14.15)

Best TFT Comps for Patch 14.15 (Set 12)

Welcome to our article where we cover the best TFT team comps for the current patch. My name is Alan and I’ve peaked Challenger in multiple TFT sets. Our team constantly works with top players like Clement Chu to analyze the meta and compile the best comps.

TFT Set 12 is finally here, and with that, comes a brand new list of meta team comps. If you haven’t checked out the new Set info, be sure to check our out all-in-one TFT Set 12 Reveal Page.

Since the set has only just released, expect A LOT of changes to come in the following days (or even hours). Our team has worked endlessly to test the PBE, but the meta will shift drastically as the whole player base tries out the set.

Be sure to check out our fully updated Tier List for the most up to date look at the meta. You can also check out our Stats page to see what comps are performing well across all players.

State of the Metagame

S-tier: Mage Maniacs (Veigar/Vex Reroll)

TFT Set 12 Mage Maniacs Team Comp

[Link to Full Guide]

Team Comp Description:

This first comp uses Veigar and Vex as dual reroll carrys; one for the frontline, and one for the backline. Instead of going vertical into an Origin trait, this comp goes up to Mage 5, with flexible additions late game such as Tahm Kench and Xerath.

S-tier: Faerie Tail (Faerie Kalista)

TFT Set 12 Faerie Tail Team Comp

[Link to Full Guide]

Team Comp Description:

So far, Kalista seems to be quite the flexible carry, as she’s able to be played in a variety of team comps. This team comp goes vertical into the Faerie trait with an Emblem, placing it on Diana.

Outside of the Faeries, we have  Camille and Hecarim to provide Multistriker, while also flexing into Chrono.

S-tier: Pyro Blasts (Pyro Smolder)

TFT Set 12 Pyro Blasts Team Comp

[Link to Full Guide]

Team Comp Description:

This team comp is a fairly straightforward Pyro team comp using all the Pyro units along with the Blaster trait for the backline. Shyvana activates Dragon for Smolder and also Shapeshifter for Nasus.

Shen and Taric provide more frontline with the Bastion trait, and you can even try to fit Norra in as well for Portal (3). Smolder will be even stronger with a Pyro Emblem, but the comp still works without it.

S-tier: Preserve 4’s (Preserver Karma)

TFT Set 12 Preserve 4s Team Comp

[Link to Full Guide]

Team Comp Description:

Next up, we have a traditional team comp with Karma and the two Warriors as the carrys. This comp is able to hit Preserver 4, which grants a lot of healing/mana generation.

There’s also a variety of units to itemize, provided you can find them all.

S-tier: The Witchers (Witchcraft Reroll)

TFT Set 12 The Witchers Team Comp

[Link to Full Guide]

Team Comp Description:

This team comp is a vertical Witchcraft comp revolving around Syndra and Cassiopeia as the reroll carrys. Neeko will be the main tank, and Fiora can hold extra AD/lifesteal items.

The main issue for this comp is a lack of strong frontline in the mid game if you don’t have good Neeko items. Before finding the Warriors or Morgana, try to use other Bastion or Shapeshifter units to help out in the meantime.

You can also flex into the Eldritch trait with Syndra as well.

S-tier: Incantor Stars (Incantor Reroll)

TFT Set 12 Incantor Stars Team Comp

[Link to Full Guide]

Team Comp Description:

This next team comp also uses Syndra and Cassiopeia as the main carrys, but doesn’t go vertical into Witchcraft. Instead, we have Shapeshifters for the frontline, with a splash of Eldritch (3) once you find Briar.

This comp won’t struggle as much in the mid game with a larger frontline, but you may fall off if you don’t find multiple 3-stars or 5-costs like Briar.

S-tier: Multistrikers (Kassadin Reroll)

TFT Set 12 Multistrikers Team Comp

[Link to Full Guide]

Team Comp Description:

This is a straightforward vertical Multistriker comp, with Kassadin, Akali, and Jax as the main reroll targets. Kalista also is a nice backline carry to itemize once you find her.

The comp finally caps out with Xerath and Camille, but rerolling and leveling up to 9 can be difficult if you don’t play the lobby well.

S-tier: Ballista (Bastion Kalista)

TFT Set 12 Ballista Team Comp

[Link to Full Guide]

Team Comp Description:

Once again, we have another Kalista team comp, this time using the Bastion trait to build a strong frontline. Rakan, Morgana, and Zilean provide Preserver (3), which will provide a lot of healing for the frontline.

The only scary thing about this comp is that your secondary carrys are mainly 5-cost units, so Kalista needs to be found fast to do a lot of heavy lifting for the comp. This way you can reach level 9 comfortably to find units like Diana, Camille, and Morgana.

S-tier: Syndra-Guards (Vanguard Syndra Reroll)

TFT Set 12 Syndra-Guards Team Comp

[Link to Full Guide]

Team Comp Description:

This next comp is a Syndra reroll comp focusing on the Mage and Incantor traits rather than vertical Eldritch. We have Vanguards as the main frontline, as Mordekaiser and Galio both provide good traits like Eldritch/Mage respectively.

S-tier: Deja Vu (Galio Hero Augment)

TFT Set 12 Deja Vu Team Comp

[Link to Full Guide]

Team Comp Description:

This team comp uses the Hero Augment “Deja Vu” to turn Galio into the main carry of the team comp. Do not go for this comp if you don’t have the Deja Vu Augment.

This turns Galio into a ranged carry instead of a melee tank. We then have other Mages and Portal units to build up some trait power for the board.

A-tier: Arcana Spears (Kalista 5-Cost Board)

TFT Set 12 Arcana Spears Team Comp

[Link to Full Guide]

Team Comp Description:

This team comp is a potential “fast 9” team comp that uses many 5-cost units to create a powerful board. Kalista is still the main carry to help you reach level 9.

Once you hit level 9, you can then add powerful units like Xerath, Milio, Camille, and Briar to become additional carrys.

A-tier: Witchy Wallop (Poppy Hero Augment)

TFT Set 12 Witchy Wallop Team Comp

[Link to Full Guide]

Team Comp Description:

This team comp uses the Hero Augment “Witchy Wallop” to turn Poppy into the main carry of the team. Zoe will be another unit to reroll for as she’s also a 1-cost Witchcraft unit.

For this comp, we go up to Witchcraft 6, add in Preserver with Rakan, and Bastion with Diana.

Before finding your other Witchcraft units, you can activate other traits like Bastion 4, Scholar for Zoe, etc.

A-tier: Zap Attack (Blitzcrank Hero Augment)

TFT Set 12 Zap Attack Team Comp

[Link to Full Guide]

Team Comp Description:

Once again, we have another Hero Augment team comp. This time we use the “Zap Attack” Augment to turn Blitzcrank into a carry instead of a pure tank. Like Poppy, we have Ziggs to reroll alongside Blitzcrank.

We go up to Honeymancy 3 with Veigar, and fill out the board with other Vanguards for the frontline. Lastly, we have Taric and Norra to add Portal (3). We also have Yuumi attach to Blitzcrank to keep him alive for longer and grant some bonus AP.

A-tier: Fast 9 Mayhem (Bill Gates Team Comp)

TFT Set 12 Fast 9 Mayhem Team Comp

[Link to Full Guide]

Team Comp Description:

This team comp is another Fast 9 board using the same core of Milio, Xerath, Morgana, and Camille. The main difference here is that we don’t have Kalista, and instead are able to fit Arcana 4.

A-tier: Warrior Duo (Fiora/Gwen)

TFT Set 12 Warrior Duo Team Comp

[Link to Full Guide]

Team Comp Description:

This team comp is a straight forward 4-cost carry comp using Fiora and Gwen as your main carrys. We then add some other units to activate traits like Warrior 4, Witchcraft, Sugarcraft, Shapeshifter, and more.

A-tier: Spider Queen (Elise Hero Augment)

TFT Set 12 Spider Queen Team Comp

[Link to Full Guide]

Team Comp Description:

This team comp uses the “Spider Queen” Hero Augment to turn Elise into the main carry. For this comp, we have Shapeshifters for the frontline, with Varus and Smolder for additional backline damage.

Lastly, Nomsy activates Dragon 3 to further buff up Shyvana and Smolder. You can reroll for other 1-cost units like Jayce and Nomsy, but Elise is the priority.

A-tier: Sweet Tooth (Nunu Hero Augment)

TFT Set 12 Sweet Tooth Team Comp

[Link to Full Guide]

Team Comp Description:

Once again, we have another team comp that uses a Hero Augment. Sweet Tooth turns Nunu into a melee carry, and we reroll for Kog’Maw alongside him.

Veigar activates Honeymancy (3), and we use the other team slots to activate the Hunter and Bastion trait.

A-tier: White Walkers (Vertical Frost)

TFT Set 12 White Walkers Team Comp

[Link to Full Guide]

Team Comp Description:

This is a vertical Frost team comp that funnily enough uses Varus as one of the main carrys (Pyro). Olaf is your main Frost/frontline carry, and Twitch provides the Hunter trait.

Hwei activates Blaster for Varus, and Shen activates Pyro/Bastion for Varus/Diana respectively.

A-tier: Norra & Friends (Bill Gates Team Comp)

TFT Set 12 Norra & Friends Team Comp

[Link to Full Guide]

Team Comp Description:

This team comp is another variation of the Fast 9/Bill Gates team comp. Instead of Xerath, we have Norra as the main focus. This is mainly an option to go for if you can’t find Varus.

This version can also be a bit easier to build around since you run lower cost units like Galio/Zilean in the late game for their traits.

A-tier: Ravenous Shifters (Shapeshifters)

TFT Set 12 Ravenous Shifters Team Comp

[Link to Full Guide]

Team Comp Description:

This team comp is a straight forward Shapeshifter team comp. While the Elise Hero Augment lets you reroll for Elise, this version simply plays around Varus and Nasus as your 4-cost carrys.

Briar and Smolder will then cap out the board at level 8/9 as your secondary carrys.

A-tier: Scholar School (Ryze Carry)

TFT Set 12 Scholar School Team Comp

[Link to Full Guide]

Team Comp Description:

Up next, we have a traditional 4-cost carry with Ryze. For this comp, we have the Scholar trait as the main focus, with Preservers and Bastions to fill out the frontline.

The main issue with this comp is the lack of additional carrys until you find Milio.

B-tier: Team Eldritch (Vertical Eldritch)

TFT Set 12 Team Eldritch Team Comp

[Link to Full Guide]

Team Comp Description:

This is a straightforward vertical Eldritch team comp. This version uses Nami as the main carry, but you can also reroll for Nilah/Syndra as well. Tahm Kench is a flexible addition to activate Vanguard, but you can add other units depending on your game.

If you go for Syndra 3, you’ll want to add an Incantor like Karma and rely on the Eldritch trait for your frontline.

B-tier: Draconic (Nomsy/Shyvana Reroll)

TFT Set 12 Draconic Team Comp

[Link to Full Guide]

Team Comp Description:

This team comp rerolls for Nomsy and Shyvana as the two Dragon units and fills out the team comp with Shapeshifters until you find Smolder. This team comp is extremely similar to the Elise reroll team comp, except that team comp is even stronger with the Elise Hero Augment.

Briar will be a nice addition if you find her, but not required to hit Shapeshifter 6.

B-tier: Spin to Win (Wukong Hero Augment)

TFT Set 12 Spin to Win Team Comp

[Link to Full Guide]

Team Comp Description:

This team comp uses Wukong’s Hero Augment which turns him into a carry unit as well. For this board, we have the Preserver and Incantor units to provide him extra healing and strong backline damage with units like Karma/Milio/Norra.

Yuumi also heals Wukong, ideally turning him into a raid boss.

B-tier: Runic Portals (Vertical Portal)

TFT Set 12 Runic Portals Team Comp

[Link to Full Guide]

Team Comp Description:

This team comp is a vertical Portal team comp, with Ryze as the main carry and Taric as the main tank. Norra becomes your late game secondary carry, but the vertical trait lacks other carrys to really juice up the board.

You can potentially reroll for Ezreal/Vex, but Ezreal won’t have the Blaster trait active unless you make some cuts or have an Emblem.

B-tier: Honeybombs (Honeymancy Reroll)

TFT Set 12 Honeybombs Team Comp

[Link to Full Guide]

Team Comp Description:

This is the vertical Honeymancy team comp that rerolls for 1 and 2-cost units. It’s tough to activate other traits since the Honeymancy trait goes up to 5, making team slots tight.

Galio is a great inclusion for Vanguard and Mage, while Poppy/Cassiopeia provide Witchcraft, Bastion, and Incantor. This already takes up 8 slots while also being very reroll dependent.

There may be other better ways to play the Honeymancy 5 trait, but we will have to see how the meta shakes out.

B-tier: Molten Caramel (Rumble Hero Augment)

TFT Set 12 Molten Caramel Team Comp

[Link to Full Guide]

Team Comp Description:

Lastly, we have the team comp for Rumble’s Hero Augment: Molten Caramel. This comp is fairly straight forward as it goes into Sugarcraft 4, Vanguard 4, and Blaster 2 all to empower Rumble.

The main issue is a lack of a reroll partner that the other reroll comps have. Jinx can be a good carry, but she’s 3-cost while Rumble is 2-cost. As more variations are explored, Hero Rumble might move up the tier list.

Methodology

We evaluate compositions based on 3 key factors:

  • Consistency: How well does this comp perform from game to game and how reliably can you build towards it given a reasonable start?
  • Overall strength: If you do successfully complete the comp, how does it match up against other comps, especially those most prevalent in the meta?
  • Flexibility: Can you make tweaks and adjustments to the comp while events unfold differently in game? These events include item luck, roll luck, and enemy units.

The combination of these three factors allows us to define team compositions as S, A, or B. The ones that have all three will lean toward S, those that are pretty good but may be lacking in some areas will lean towards B.
