Team Liquid’s Counter-Strike 2 team just lost head coach Damian “daps” Steele.
Team Liquid has been looking a bit rough going into the Counter-Strike 2 season. Their long-standing team was split up after a lot of underwhelming placements at big events like the ESL Pro League Season 18 Playoffs. Then, they failed to even qualify for IEM Cologne.
As a response, Liquid looked to Europe and added Aleks “Rainwaker” Petrov and Robert “Patsi” Isyanov. Unfortunately, this wasn’t a success so far and Rainwaker was benched soon after. Now, Patsi is also reported to be dropped form the org.
When Rainwaker was benched before BLAST Fall Showdown, Coach daps stepped in and played on the roster. This didn’t fare well for Team Liquid.
What happened to daps?
The past few months have been rough for Team Liquid fans. Now, it looks like daps is leaving as head coach.
Team Liquid has not made any mention of who would be taking his spot going forward.
The move isn’t sitting well with CS2 esports fans. One fan said that daps was reponsible for rejuvinating the team and bringing results.
“Now, because he couldn’t turn Tier 2 pros into [an] instant success, he’s getting booted? WTF is Liquid thinking,” the fan ranted.
“Liquid is only imploding. And it only took three months,” another responded.
With fans feeling like Liquid is “falling apart,” only time will tell if they can gain back trust from the CS2 community going forward.
