Taylors Wines Masterstroke Cabernet Sauvignon 2021

Taylors Wines Masterstroke Cabernet Sauvignon 2021

  • By Admin

The straight Cab Sauv in the Masterstroke range. Taylors head across the state here, away from their home base in the Clare to renowned red soil of Coonawarra. 6 weeks extended skin contact. French oak treatment for 16 months (new, two and three year old). The back label photography by award winning Benjamin Goode.

Taylors Wines, Masterstroke, Cabernet Sauvignon, Coonawarra, 2021

Coonawarra tones of choc mint wafery biscuit and blackcurrant give obvious pointers. Pastille, mocha, warm steel, ferrous notes, spent coffee grounds, black cherry jam and woody oak. There’s a touch of soy-like umami for interest. Char and slightly sour tannins run under medium to full slick blackcurrant flesh. The tail showing some concentration, though finishing a little heavy with lingering choc mint and leafy tones. There’s some good intent, but feels weighted down.
