The Taylor’s Masterstroke range with their tactile labels are a serious inclusion into the line-up, while the back label features a striking image by award winning landscape photographer Benjamin Goode. Maturation in French and American oak (20% new).
Taylors Estate, Masterstroke, Shiraz, McLaren Vale, 2021
Big globules of dark, plump plummy fruit with a red cherry cola edge and a fruits of the forest kind a berry vibe. Oak gets the supporting role with rolls of fleshy vanilla (bean and paste) and mocha. Add in some Vale graphite and inky savoury/umami and you get plenty going on. Palate similarly plush and broad, nearing opulent. Tannins are ripe and save the day with their grip and carry, but still feel a touch raw. Lingering choc and a clean finish. A little time for the oak to settle down won’t do it any harm.
