Switzerland U21s must at least avoid defeat against Group D’s top team France U21s if they are to progress on Wednesday. We’ve previewed the game and have given you our best bets for the occasion.
Switzerland U21 vs France U21 Tips

Switzerland (11/4) opened their campaign with a 2-1 victory over Norway, however, they were beaten 3-2 by Italy in their second group game, finding themselves three goals down at the interval before scoring two consolation goals in the second half.
Victory on Wednesday will see them advance to the knockout stages provided Italy fail to win elsewhere, while a draw would also suffice.
Having won both of their first two U21 European Championship matches, France (5/6) can ensure a top-place finish in Group D when they take on Switzerland.
First Sylvain Ripoll’s side beat Italy 2-1 courtesy of goals from Arnaud Kalimuendo and Olympique Lyonnais’ Bradley Barcola, before Les Bleuets all but sealed their quarter-final spot with a 1-0 victory over Norway in their second group game via a second-half strike from Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise.
Team News
Lewin Blum was replaced at half time in the 3-2 loss against Italy and is expected to miss out with Darian Males is likely to come into the Swiss defence.
Meanwhile, Michael Olise is expected to keep his place in the Les Bleuets attack, having scored the winner against Norway on Sunday.
Match Result – Draw @ 12/5
France can draw and still seal top spot, so I can image they may settle for a point rather than chase the game and potentially lose.
Switzerland can also draw and still qualify for the knockout stages, depending on Italy’s result against Norway.
Both sides have plenty of goals in them, so I’m backing the draw to kick things off.
Both teams to score @ 8/13
I think a high-scoring contest seems a likely outcome for this final fixture in Group D, with both nations struggling for clean sheets over the past year.
Coming into this decisive showdown, the Swiss have been a particularly reliable choice in the goal markets, with each of their last seven matches seeing both teams score. Furthermore, each of their last six games also saw at least three goals scored.
Likewise, the French have also had similar issues in defence, with Les Bleuets ‘ clean sheet against Norway U21 on Sunday their first in seven games.
Five of those seven matches saw both teams score, and that outcome has to have every chance on Wednesday, considering Switzerland´s recent form.
