Sunday’s Top Tips: Wolves Look Like Underpriced Underdogs

Sunday’s Top Tips: Wolves Look Like Underpriced Underdogs

  • By Admin

Just one more sleep until Christmas. And in the Premier League, just one more match until Christmas.

Wolves and Chelsea serve up today’s Christmas Eve offering live on Sky Sports at 1pm with the hosts looking a little underestimated by the bookies.

11/4 feels like a big price for a team that’s already beaten Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur at home. That’s especially true against a Chelsea side that’s lost their last three on the road.

Wolves’ best work has been done at Molineux this season where 12 of their 19 points have been won – not bad considering 6 of their eight home games have been against sides in the top half of the table. In addition to those wins over City and Spurs they’ve drawn with Aston Villa and Newcastle so won’t fear anything the Blues have to offer today.

It’s hard to fathom how Chelsea are 10/11 to win this one. They’re only three points better off than Wolves and although they’ve plenty of talent in the squad they’re so unreliable that you couldn’t be backing them at those odds.

You’re getting 13/8 on Wolves in the draw no bet market if you want to keep the draw onside.

In Scotland, Rangers’ and Motherwell’s fortunes could hardly be more contrasting.

The Gers remain unbeaten after 15 games under Phillipe Clement, with their first trophy of the season in the bag and a place in the last 16 of the Europa League to look forward to in 2024.

Motherwell on the other hand are 15 without a win, second bottom of the table and with huge games to come before the end of the month at Aberdeen then at home to bottom side Livingston, Stuart Kettlewell needs to get his side back to winning ways.

On the plus side for Kettlewell his side have only lost two of the last seven although it’s taken equalisers in the 92nd, 97th and 90th minute to earn three of their five draws.

Motherwell haven’t won at Fir Park in this fixture since a famous 3-0 victory gave them a 6-1 aggregate win in the Premiership play-off in 2015. Since then it’s been nine defeats and three draws in 12 meetings.

Interestingly though, Motherwell have scored in the last six meetings in North Lanarkshire and it’s even money on Both Teams Scoring this afternoon.

Rangers will be desperate to keep the pressure on Celtic ahead of the New Year Derby net week. A Gers win and Over 2.5 Goals pays 10/11.

A lot has been made of Rangers’ penalty record in recent weeks. They’ve been awarded eight spot kicks in eight Premiership matches under Clement. It’s just 6/5 that David Dickinson points to the spot today.

A better bet could be to back penalty expert James Tavernier who has scored nine goals already this season. The Rangers captain is 15/8 to score.
