Sunday’s Racing Tips: Gale Mahler can storm to victory
There’s both flat and jump racing to look forward to on Sunday, with four meetings taking place across the UK & Ireland. The first of Today’s Horse Races comes from the Irish Derby card at the Curragh, before they go at Uttoxeter, Cartmel and Wolverhampton.
Sunday’s racing tips is comprised of three fancies – including one for trainer Adrian Keatley who’s bidding for a four-timer.
Sunday’s Racing Tips
13:20 Uttoxeter – Gale Mahler @ 1/1
The opening 2m4f novices’ hurdle on the card sees a trio of decent horses do battle. Paul Nicholls’ Paddy De Pole has won three of his last four and commands plenty of respect, while Peter & Michael Bowen’s Flying Fortune sets a good standard.
Nonetheless, both could have their work cut out to get the better of Adrian Keatley’s GALE MAHLER, who has breezed to victory three times since finishing fourth in a Sedgefield bumper on debut.
The mare got off the mark in a Southwell bumper in May before following up in style at Kelso. She progressed again on her hurdling debut when bolting up at Market Rasen this month when stepped up in trip and there should be more to come from her.

13:30 Cartmel – Not Now Nathaniel @ 1/1
Moving on to the opening 2m1f mares’ novices’ hurdle at Cartmel and the race looks like a penalty kick for the progressive NOT NOW NATHANIEL, trained by Donald McCain who has a great record around this venue.
The filly had the reopposing Nellie Bluesky well behind when scoring in a Newcastle bumper on debut in January, and she had the reopposing Letterson Lily behind when running a respectable race in a Grade 2 mares’ bumper at Aintree.
Not Now Nathaniel bolted up on her hurdling debut over the extended two miles at Aintree in May, and followed up at Bangor in style this month. She should run these ragged from the front and will be hard to beat on a sharp track.
16:10 Uttoxeter – Charlie’s Glance e/w @ 12/1
The temptation to have a bet in the Summer Cup is there but it’s a minefield, so we move on to the 2m4f handicap hurdle where CHARLIE’S GLANCE has solid each-way claims for trainer Andrew Martin with 5lb claimer James Martin aboard.
Having had wind surgery twice in the last couple of years, the eight-year-old has clearly had his issues, but he ran his best race in a long time when second over course and distance this month.
Charlie’s Glance was no match for Faithfulflyer on the day but he ran on well to the line and can run from an unchanged mark. He won off a mark of 114 in the past and is 7lb lower so he’s handicapped to run well again.
This is an Extra Place Race, with Betfred paying four places instead of three at 1/5 odds.
