Jump racing holds sway across Britain and Ireland on Sunday with four meetings taking place across the afternoon.

First off is Carlisle before they go at Navan, Southwell and Thurles and amongst our Sunday fancies is one for trainer Sam Coltherd who is having his first run for the yard since leaving Irish soil

Sunday Racing Tips:

  • 11:50 Carlisle – Here Comes Georgie @ 7/2
  • 12:00 Navan – Teuchters Glory @ 6/4
  • 13:00 Carlisle – Broadford Publican @ 13/2

11:50 Carlisle – Here Comes Georgie @ 7/2

Grade 1-winning trainer Paddy Neville has had a very quiet start to the season, having saddled 26 runners without a winner, but that could change on Sunday as HERE COMES GEORGIE has a very strong chance in the 2m1f novices’ hurdle.

The gelding showed promise when fourth in a Kelso bumper in April and, although he failed to build on that, his poor run at Cheltenham behind Encanto Bruno can be easily forgiven as he was miles out of his depth.

Here Comes Georgie was dropped in class and ran a big race in a 2m3f novice hurdle at Catterick last month, finishing second behind Bugise Seagull and well clear of the remainder.

The drop back in trip will suit this runner who likes to be prominent and he could take some pegging back if he’s given a soft lead.

Here Comes Georgie to win the 11;50 Carlisle at 7-2

12:00 Navan – Teuchters Glory @ 6/4

Dual bumper scorer TEUCHTERS GLORY is yet to taste success over hurdles, but if he can replicate his most recent effort, Liam Burke’s runner will take the world of beating in the 2m maiden hurdle.

The son of Fame And Glory was no match for Gordon Elliott’s No Time To Wait at Cork last week, but he had 22 other runners well behind him on the day, including odds-on favourite Western Diego.

Teuchters Glory loves cut in the ground, so conditions will be ideal and this is a much easier assignment than the one he faced last week, so it will be disappointing if he isn’t good enough to land the spoils.

If there is a danger in the race, it might be Willie Mullins’ Spread Boss Ted, who finished fourth behind Marine Nationale in a Punchestown bumper on debut and has some interesting form in the book.

Teuchters Glory to win the 12;00 Navan at 6-4

13:00 Carlisle – Broadford Publican @ 13/2

Moving on to the 2m3½f handicap hurdle, trainer Sam Coltherd could have a very well handicapped horse on his hands in the shape of BROADFORD PUBLICAN.

Formerly trained by Philip Dempsey in Ireland, the five-year-old was punted off the boards for a Kilbeggan maiden hurdle when last seen in May, where he tried to make all but didn’t succeed, finishing fifth.

Broadford Publican has had seven months off the track, so fitness will have to be taken on trust, but an opening British handicap mark of 104 is very workable and he is still very lightly raced for his age.

Broadford Publican to win the 13;00 Carlisle at 13-2
