Monthly Subscription Boxes – Gift Guide!

Subscription Box Gift Guide – 6 Favorites – The Gift That Keeps On Giving All Year Long!

Looking for a more unique Christmas gift idea this year? Gifting a subscription box is a fun gift that will keep on giving all year long. Plus, there are so many different ones these days, that have great reviews and are quality products. We have picked 6 of our favorites, across different ages, that make great gifts and that we have personally used ourselves, so know they are what they say they are. The person you gift it to will think of how much they appreciate your gift every single month it arrives.

Some of the reasons we think these can make a special gift idea:

  • Experience Gifts – Although they are technically stuff, they usually involve something you make or consume, so are more project-oriented than just adding stuff to the bins.
  • Learning Involved – They combine learning & fun as many of these ideas involve some kind of learning process.
  • Convenience – They come all put together, so you do not have to go through the process of buying all the supplies for the various projects (convenience)!
  • Diversity of Choice – There are so many options these days, that you are bound to find one for most ages, and hobbies or things they like to do – so it can feel like a more personalized gift too.
  • Plus, my kids love getting things in the mail!

Kids Subscription Box Gift Ideas – KiwiCo Crates!

We have personally subscribed to Kiwi Crates for our kids over the years, and have really enjoyed them (especially during the elementary-aged years for my own kids). They are quality boxes, with lots of options to choose from, and ideas for all ages! Those are all pictures of our kids working on different KiwiCo projects, to give you an idea of how they look in real life. We have done everything from cooking projects to science projects, arts and crafts, tinker boxes, and more!

I also love to use the boxes as gifts for kids for birthdays, and Christmas. donations etc. These are great because they have so many different options, and they are STEAM projects too (so the kids are learning while having fun).

They offer a lot of flexibility with their subscription options. When subscribing to KiwiCo Crates you can pick from  Craft /Building / Art / Cooking Subscription Boxes and more – and for kids of all ages! You can also choose from subscription lengths (they have many more options than just a full year – you can choose one box, 3 months, 6 months, 1 year for example).

KiwiCo subscription boxes, or craft subscription boxes for kids are great options for those who love arts, crafts, and building. There are general options, as well as ones that are specific to a certain type of arts or crafts. Some of our favorite picks are (plus find more than just our picks here to shop hundreds of subscription boxes!).

KiwiCo is a company that offers subscription boxes for kids as well as other STEAM products that help kids learn while having fun that you can use for FREE, or purchase kits that are not part of the subscription plan.

We have done many of their projects before, and if you want to know more about some of the different offerings, check out:

Plus, if your family loves Geography / Travel the KiwiCo World Boxes are one of my very favorites! This is such a fun kit to help kids start exploring and learning about the world around them, right from home. These are geared at kids 6 to 12 years old and are:

“monthly geography club for ages 6–12+. Each crate includes everything you need to journey around the world, explore cultural history, plus detailed instructions for building themed STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) projects that help kids (and kids at heart!) embark on new adventures.”

Book Subscription Boxes for Kids –

Highlights Subscription Boxes

The reviews on the Highlights Subscription Boxes are great, and they offer a couple of different options (magazines and puzzles). My kids read these all through their younger years. These are particularly nice for kids that are in the learning-to-read age group too, as they have Book Club options, and Learn To Read options for subscription boxes (amongst others).

In addition to subscription boxes, you could also gift a magazine subscription for the year, as another idea.

Another option to consider for books is the Bookroo Subscription Boxes. These are geared at kids 0-10, so if you have kids in that age group, this one is great.

Egypt Universal Yum Snack Box

Family Gift Subscription Boxes

Want to give a gift to a family, rather than one single gift idea per person? Here is a fun idea that works for an entire family to enjoy together: Tasting Subscription Boxes. The Universal Yums is one that Jen’s family has tried many from, and they have loved this one. They are fun for families because:

  • They come packed full of treats, so everyone can try something!
  • It provides you with a booklet with facts & information about the country, and treats included – so you are learning with these too.
  • They provide multiple size options, so you can select the box size that fits your budget or the family size you are shopping for.

Trust me, if you are looking for a family gift, this is one they will always remember! Find her full review on these here.

College Kids – Gift Meal Kits!

These meal kits are perfect to set up for college kids who are away at school. Dinner on the table without having to do meal planning or shopping! This would cut out some of the grocery shopping, spending, and prep time college kids would have to do to eat well, and that makes it the perfect gift for this age range.

Here are two popular meal kits that college kids are likely to love, and will help keep them fed and happy while at school.

These would be a great gift for college kids from mom and dad or grandparents, but I bet mom and dad, plus the college kid would all really appreciate it if it came from someone else too.

Barkbox Halloween Box with Goldendoodle Puppy

Pet Subscription Boxes

If you have a special pet that you want to include in the holidays, they have options for those too. Here are two fun subscription boxes that are designed just for your dogs, that Jen has used and loved. The fun thing about this subscription box is that it is not only a gift for the furry family member, but also for their owner too!

Two of our favorites are the Bark Box and Super Chewer boxes!

Let us know if your family has a favorite subscription box that you love!
