Can Kyle McCord Keep Up His Hot Start?

Former Ohio State quarterback Kyle McCord has lit up college football in his first tw0 games as the quarterback of the Syracuse Orange. McCord has completed 59-of-passes (69.4%) for 735 yards with eight touchdowns and just one interception in his new home. He looked spectacular against #23 Georgia Tech last week, lighting up the Yellow Jackets for 381 yards and four scores.

He displayed the poise and accuracy of a future NFL quarterback while showing outstanding control of Syracuse’ offense. His impressive arm strength was also on full display and he effortlessly slung the football all over the field.

He’s been helped by a defense that has allowed opponents to convert on just 36% of third downs this season.

It’s important to note the Orange are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games at home.

Stanford Aim To Build Momentum

The Cardinal sit near the bottom of the ACC conference title odds for good reason. Stanford gave up 457 total yards to TCU in Week 0. Horned Frogs quarterback Josh Hoover diced up Troy Taylor’s defense to the tune of 353 yards and two touchdowns. The Cardinal surrendered a third-down conversion on 8-of-15 tries and gave up 14 points late in the fourth quarter to throw away the game.

A visit from Cal Poly in Week 2 has done little to buoy the Cardinal college football betting odds, as their 41-7 win over the FCS school feels like an empty victory. Quarterback Ashton Daniels has shown promise, and he will need to be at his very best to keep this Cardinal team in the game on Friday night. Daniels’ has attempted just 389 passes in his three years in Palo Alto, or about as many attempts as McCord had last year at Ohio State.

Their PFF defensive coverage grade of 64.6 does little to instill hope in Stanford’s secondary’s ability to keep up with the highflying passing attack of Syracuse. Keep in mind, the Cardinal are just 1-4 ATS in their last five games. They’re also 4-10 ATS in their last 14 games on the road.

Stanford vs Syracuse Prediction

According to PFF, the Orange own an elite offensive passing grade of 86.8 so far this season. Look for their passing attack to dominate a Cardinal defense that has surrendered nearly 280 passing yards per game to begin their year.

Lay the points with Syracuse as 8.5-point favorites.

Stanford vs Syracuse Pick: Syracuse -8.5 (-110)
