Running alongside the Championship games is the final WPT Prime Taiwan High Roller highlight on schedule, with registration open through the first level of play. Day 1 saw Taiwan’s Chun Lung Chen top the ranks, bringing a 510,000 stack to Day 2, five times the starting chip count.

Day 2 of the thrilling WPT Prime Taiwan 2024 Championship Event ushered 206 players back on the felt, each guaranteed a share of the TWD 51,054,436 (~USD 1,611,293) prize pool. Elimination after elimination was seen across the Championship floor with only 70 players remaining on the run by the fourth hour.
Following eleven levels of play, the day closed with Singapore’s Jereld Sam stacking high, just shy of the nine million mark. Sam zoomed to the lead by the last hour, with a crucial battle against Masato Hattori shipping him a 5.2 million pot. Crippled down to three big blinds following the bluff, Hattori missed to make the Final Day with Sam finishing him off minutes later to exit in 16th place.
Only thirteen players out of the record-breaking WPT Prime 1,666 entry field remain in the game with several foreign runners included in the mix, making it a truly international affair. All Day 2 survivors are now guaranteed a minimum payout of TWD 513,000 (~USD 15,935), and a fighting chance to claim the esteemed WPT Prime Taiwan Championship Event title. The eventual winner is also deemed to receive a WPT World Championship entry, valued at USD 10,400 on top of the TWD 8,065,000 (~USD 250,530) first place prize money.

Chun Lung Chen bags the largest across WPT Prime Taiwan High Roller Day 1
The first eleven levels of the final WPT Prime Taiwan High Roller highlight ran on the felt this Sunday, August 18th, with 56 players out of the 96 entry field advancing through. Taiwan’s Chun Lung Chen closed the day’s games with the lead, stacking 510,000 over the pack, followed closely by Hao Shen with 481,000. Positioned third across the order is Hong Kong’s Park Yu ‘Sparrow’ Cheung, who currently stands atop the Player of the Festival race, and remains on the hunt for a third High Roller title across this season’s games.
Also surviving the Day 1 rounds are Asian notables Hon Cheong Lee (213,500), Carlos Chang (208,000), Chia Yun Wu (158,000), David Erquiaga (113,000), and Dicky Tsang (100,500). Seasoned contenders Chi Jen ‘Justin’ Chu, Seungmook Jung, and Bien Mai, on the other hand missed the mark, and are expected to be back on the felt, with Day 2 registration remaining open through Level 13 @ 12:20 local time.
