Singapore welcomes reopening of Resorts Poker Club at Resorts World Sentosa

Singapore

Poker enthusiasts geolocated in the Lion City are in for a big week ahead with a number of surprises in store as its live poker scene opens up once more. Last August 7th saw the country’s lone poker room reopen its doors at Resorts World Sentosa, Singapore, following its temporary closure due to social distancing measures brought about by the recent global health situation.

The latest addition currently features four tables of No Limit Hold’em situated at a temporary pit in Orchid Club, and is open to all interested patrons. Newcomers and experienced players are welcome to chime in with a variety of available blinds – (SGD) $5/$10, $10/$20, $20/$40, $25/$50, and $50/$100, sure to keep everyone entertained. Poker game rules have also been aligned to meet the international poker standards.

Indeed a great way to scratch that poker itch, those with deeper pockets will be delighted to know that a High Limit Gaming Area Salon for bigger games is due to open in just three days. The anticipated opening scheduled this Friday, August 16th, remains exclusive for invited guests, with VIP players joining in likewise given the option to bring friends and opt for a more private session. Rake for the games is reported to be set at a 5% fee with a cap of three big blinds per pot. A small price to pay for professional staff and world class poker tables across a luxurious setting, players can definitely expect a seamless gaming experience all throughout.

Singapore upholds some of the strictest gambling regulations across the region, with only two primary legal venues in the form of integrated resorts – Marina Bay Sands and Resorts World Sentosa, featuring extensive casino facilities. While these are available to local patrons and free for foreigners, Singaporean citizens as well as permanent residents are required to pay a 24-hour entry levy of SGD 150 or an annual membership fee of SGD 3,000 to access the gaming arena. This charge is in part of the government’s aim to deter casual and impulse gambling, and keep restricted visits at bay.

Additionally, Resorts Poker Club is already foreseeing its expansion for a larger poker venue geared to arrive by the end of the year. Eleven poker tables are in the works to set stage on the Mass Gaming Floor with a target launch date of December 8, right in time for the holidays. A private poker table will also be set up for high limit players that are not eligible play at the High Limit Gaming Salon.

The new poker room at its prime location is expected to attract both local enthusiasts and international visitors, reinforcing Singapore’s position as a top notch gaming destination in Southeast Asia.
