The Seahawks drafted twice in the first round of this year’s NFL Draft, and grabbed a player to help them on each side of the ball with those two picks. Adding Jaxon Smith-Njigba to a receiving corps that already includes DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett could help the Seahawks soar once again through the air. But the loss of Shelby Harris on defense will be something to watch out for, as Seattle was not exactly stellar on that side of the ball in 2022.

Last year’s Seattle Seahawks were explosive offensively in a way that was unexpected. Geno Smith was able to move the ball down the field vertically, making Seattle a top-10 offense in most major statistical categories. But the Seahawks did turn the ball over a little more than average, and they will need to clean things up to sustain what they did offensively a season ago.

While Seattle was excellent on offense last season, they were simply bad defensively. They were a bottom-10 scoring defense, and struggled mightily to stop the run on a per-play basis. It will be interesting to see if the Seahawks can pull things together defensively to improve their overall situation, but they didn’t do enough to improve that portion of their roster to have a lot of faith in them.
Positives & Negatives
The biggest positive for the Seahawks will be its receiving corps, which looks like it could be one of the best in the NFL in 2023. If Geno Smith can avoid turning the ball over this season, the advantages their receivers will have on the outside will make Seattle a team that could improve on last year’s surprising season.
However, the defense of the Seahawks does not inspire a lot of confidence, as they should be porous again in the 2023 campaign. Adding some turnover regression on top of their poor yardage and scoring numbers paints a bleak picture for this Seahawks defense, which could ruin another successful season on offense for this team.
2023 Seattle Seahawks Pick & Prediction: Under 8.5 Wins
This should be another tight season win total outcome, but we lean toward the under for the Seahawks in 2023. The defense of Seattle, combined with difficult divisional scheduling assignments against the NFC East and AFC North, will mean seven or eight wins for this team. They will fall just short of a second straight trip to the playoffs with Geno Smith under center.
