Scottish Tips: Best Bets at Qos, Hearts and Peterhead

  • By Admin

QUEEN OF THE SOUTH have been something of a disappointment this season, but they can kickstart their campaign with a win against Stirling Albion in Dumfries.

Marvin Bartley’s men were expected to challenge Falkirk and Hamilton Accies at the top of League One, but they’ve been below par lately and are approaching crisis mode after four league defeats in a row.

Yet in the middle of that run, they actually won at Partick Thistle in the Challenge Cup so there is something there.

You would normally have expected a team like Queen of the South to be odds-on to win at home against newly-promoted Stirling, but they can be backed at evens.
Stirling started the season very well, but there are signs the initial momentum has worn off for Darren Young’s side and they lost their last two away games at Annan and Montrose without scoring.

With Falkirk and Accies playing each other, this is an ideal chance for the Doonhamers to reduce the deficit at the top with a win. Nick Montgomery has enjoyed an excellent start to his Hibs managerial career, but there have been plenty of Easter Road bosses who have come a cropper at Tynecastle over the years and HEARTS can win the Edinburgh derby at 6/5.

Steven Naismith’s side have turned the corner recently with an excellent battling Viaplay Cup win at Kilmarnock when the chips were down. And they followed that up with a win in the Highlands against a tricky Ross County side. They are a long way from their best but the former Scotland star appears to be starting to put his own stamp on team selection.

Hibs have improved under Montgomery, but they still have their issues as last week’s home goalless draw with Dundee showed. The Leith side have won just one of the last 11 derby encounters and may suffer further disappointment in Gorgie.

PETERHEAD continue to go great guns at the top of League Two and can win again at Forfar Athletic on Saturday. The Blue Toon have won their last four league games and conceded just once. They put six past Elgin City last week. Forfar were supposed to be contenders this season but have won just once in their last ten games in all competitions. They haven’t won a home game all season at Station Park.

And Peterhead can add to their gloom at an attractive 13/8.

Best Scottish Tips this Weekend

  • QUEEN OF THE SOUTH evens
  • HEARTS 6/5
  • PETERHEAD 13/8.
