Scotland vs Norway Prediction: McTominay to continue fine form

 | November 17 |

2 mins read

Scotland welcome Norway to Hampden Park on Sunday evening (19:45) as the hosts look to claim top spot in Group A in Euro 2024 qualifying.

Steve Clarke’s side have already secured an automatic route to next summer’s tournament, while the visitors are still in contention to land a playoff spot.

Scotland vs Norway Prediction

  • Norway to win @ 13/5
  • Scott McTominay to score anytime @ 5/2

Team News

Angus Gunn remains injured for the hosts so Zander Clark could be given the nod between the sticks here, while Lawrence Shankland and Lewis Ferguson are also in contention to start this weekend, after coming on as substitutes last time out.

As for Norway, the availability of Erling Haaland remains up in the air after the Manchester City striker was reported to have suffered an ankle injury in the midweek friendly against the Faroe Islands.

Match Odds

Scotland are 11/10 to win, while Norway are 13/5 and the draw can be backed at 9/4.

The hosts were 2-1 winners the last time they faced Norway and a repeat of that scoreline here is 8/1, with both teams to score priced up at 5/6.

Norway to win @ 13/5

With Scotland’s place at Euro 2024 already secured, I can see Steve Clarke rotating his side here, and giving some minutes to fringe players within the squad.

In addition, the Scots aren’t in the best form – they needed a very late equaliser from Lawrence Shankland to earn a point against Georgia in their most recent outing, and their last victory came against Cyprus back in September.

In contrast, Norway have won five of their last six and enter this contest desperate for points in order to keep their qualification hopes alive.

Scott McTominay to score anytime @ 5/2

The Manchester United midfielder can’t stop scoring for his country.

The 26-year-old has netted on seven occasions during this qualification campaign, with his latest strike coming in the draw against Georgia on Thursday night.

Apart from the 3-0 against Cyprus in March, McTominay has played 90 minutes in every match during qualifying for Scotland, so I’m expecting him to feature prominently here, and get on the scoresheet once again.
