Saturday’s Top Tips: Old Gold and Diamonds Can Crown a Successful Saturday

Saturday’s Top Tips: Old Gold and Diamonds Can Crown a Successful Saturday

  • By Admin

Tottenham’s 4-1 defeat to Chelsea on Monday earned them plenty of plaudits but the repercussions could still be felt for a few weeks to come.

Two red cards means they’re without Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie whilst injuries to Micky van der Ven and James Maddison add to Ange Postecoglou’s woes.

The latter’s absence will be most keenly felt and after a stunning start to the season it looks as if things are starting to conspire against Postecoglou’s men.

A lunchtime trip to Molineux definitely falls in to the “tricky” category. The Old Gold haven’t been in sparkling form but Gary O’Neil’s Wolves have been left to rue their luck when it comes to refereeing decisions in recent weeks.

If his charges can get a rub of the green they might not be the worst bet of the day at 2/1 to hand Spurs a second successive defeat.

Vincent Kompany is another manager who’s style of play is kind on the eye but results aren’t going Burnley‘s way and his attacking philosophy might play in to the hands of Arsenal today.

Defeat to Newcastle was a sore one for Arsenal so we could see a reaction today but Mikel Arteta is sweating the fitness of the likes of Saka, Nketiah and Jesus so could be limited in his attacking options.

The first goal line is set at 24:00 and the Gunners have found the net inside that mark just ONCE in the Premier League this season so no goal before then appeals at 5/6.

Erik ten Hag might as well pack his bags if Man Utd don’t win against newly promoted Luton Town today.

The Dutchman has presided over a miserable start to the season for the Red Devils and sooner or later the buck has to stop with him.

Remarkably, 11 games in, United have led for just 98 minutes in the Premier League this season but they have to come good at some point. Surely!

Today could be the day although they barely deserve to be as short as 1/3. Although to be fair, ten Hag has won all eight games against newly promoted sides and Luton have yet to keep a clean sheet on their return to the top flight.

Back United to get back on track with three or more goals today at 5/6.

Leeds United are on a roll in the Championship after five wins in six and are one for the accas today at home to Plymouth.

So too are Stoke City who are unbeaten in four (W3 D1) and visit Coventry who’ve lost four on the bounce. Form can often go out the window in a derby, as evidenced by Stoke’s 4-0 win in this fixture last season when they looked out of sorts, but the 21/10 on the Potters looks too big to ignore. As does the 7/4 on the visitors to score two or more.

A couple of games in the Championship also look good for goals; top scorers Ipswich host Swansea who’ve picked up 17 points from the last 27 available. The Swans’ goals might’ve dried up of late but they’ve found the net in 12 of their 15 outings so far.

Two of the form teams meet at St Mary’s where 5th placed Southampton welcome West Brom who are just one position below them. The Baggies climbed in to the top six with a third consecutive win last week whilst the Saints are unbeaten in seven so both will fancy their chances of three points in this one.

League Two has been great for goals this season with games averaging over three goals per match. We could see a raft go goals this afternoon and games that stand-out for Over 2.5 include Colchester v Sutton, Swindon v Stockport and Newport v MK Dons.

In Scotland we’re also on the goals trail at Firhill where bottom of the table Morton take on Partick Thistle. The Jags have been the most entertaining in Scotland this season with games averaging 3.58 goals and only league leaders Celtic, Dundee Utd and Falkirk have outscored Kris Doolan’s team.

Against a Morton side whom they’ve already put four past in September Thistle can score another two or more today at 4/6.

Airdrieonians look well priced at 23/20 to win against a struggling Arbroath. The Diamonds have been good at home and earned a 1-1 draw away at promotion chasing Raith Rovers last week.

Arbroath on the other hand have conceded 12 in their last three Championship matches. Two or more goals for Airdrie pays 11/10.
