Saturday BTTS Tips: 10/1 Fivefold for 30 December

Our Boxing Day 12/1 BTTS acca came up one leg and just one team short as Welling United failed to score with Antony Papadopoulos’ strike against the post the closest they came.

For this Saturday with no EFL games on the slate, we go around the houses and take in a brand-new league for this column as part of our 10/1 fivefold…

Saturday BTTS Tips:

  • Back BTTS Yes in Celtic vs Rangers @ 8/13
  • Back BTTS Yes in Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Everton @ 8/11
  • Back BTTS Yes in Kelty Hearts vs Alloa Athletic @ 8/13
  • Back BTTS Yes in Forfar Athletic vs East Fife @ 8/11
  • Back BTTS Yes in Dungannon Swifts vs Newry City @ 4/9
  • Overall Odds – 10.24/1

Leg 1 – Celtic vs Rangers @ 8/13

Even without looking at their respective form, the Old Firm is a game where you feel BTTS is just a play. It might surprise you that since Covid, there have been 13 games between the two Glasgow giants and both sets of supporters have cheered a goal in just six of them, that is less than half.

Celtic’s defence however has real problems with injuries forcing them very much into a makeshift backline and Rangers have scored in five straight matches.

Predicting the visitors to come into Parkhead and winning without scoring would be a push, so I like the home side to score, but I can’t see them keeping Rangers out at the other end.

Leg 2 – Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Everton @ 8/11

This might be one of the more surprising picks of the fivefold for those that have watched plenty of Premier League action but whisper it quietly, Wolves are a more than decent outfit going forward and Gary O’Neil has got them playing with a positive mindset. Pedro Neto is primed to make his return and that adds another extra dimension to their attack.

Everton are one of the form teams in the top-flight as ever since their ten-point deduction, we’ve seen Sean Dyche’s side dig in and get some big results. Wolves are susceptible to the fast-break and I can see the Toffees grabbing at least one. I do like the home side to create plenty, and that means I like the BTTS here.

Leg 3 – Kelty Hearts vs Alloa Athletic @ 8/13

A leg based nearly entirely on the statistics. The home side are 65% for BTTS so far in their Scottish League 1 campaign, with the visitors coming in at 59%.

One quirk of those numbers however is that away from home, Michael Tidser’s side have been a juggernaut for this bet whereas at New Central Park, they’ve been a bit more average.

These are two mid-table sides who aren’t going up and are in no danger of relegation, so it should free them both up to have a bit of a go without too many consequences. An open game is therefore far more likely to see goals.

Leg 4 – Forfar Athletic vs East Fife @ 8/11

I do like a bit of a streak to guide me when going off the grid for these columns and when I saw that games at Station Park have seen BTTS in seven-straight, you know that is going to warrant a bit of further investigation.

They haven’t been high-scorers by any means and on Saturday they face a team just above them in the league on goal difference only.

East Fife are not great for this bet (38%) but their goal-output in recent weeks has been mightily improved. They have found the back of the net 11 times in their past five and that run has cemented this leg in my mind.

Leg 5 – Dungannon Swifts vs Newry City @ 4/9

For a bit of fun, why not take a quick trip across the Irish Sea to the Northern Irish Football League for a game between two sides conceding an average of more than two-goals-a-game?

The home side have let in 49 in just 23 games but the visitors are even worse, having seen the opposition score on 55 occasions in the same amount of matches. When you see such a statistic, you immediately look to it being part of a BTTS or Over 2.5 Goals column.

When you see that this would have been a winning bet in every game the home side has played since the opening weekend of November, you can see why it rounds off our Saturday BTTS Accumulator.
