13.20 – St Barbara Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle
The David Pipe-trained SIZING POTTSIE lacks consistency these days, but his half-a-length second at Uttoxeter in November did demonstrate that he is still capable of smart form. This formerly high-class horse will love conditions and should go very well. WORD HAS IT will also like the ground and is another to consider.
Tips: SIZING POTTSIE, WORD HAS IT
13.55 – Team Forces ‘Ubique’ Handicap Chase
Olly Murphy’s GUNSIGHT RIDGE is a former C&D on similar ground and is only 2Ib above his last winning mark. He should be in the mix, while THE LAST DAY is back on a nice mark and should be thereabouts. MAN AGAIN bolted up when last seen in France and is interesting on his stable debut for David Pipe.
Tips: GUNSIGHT RIDGE, THE LAST DAY, MAN AGAIN
14.30 – Weatherbys Cheltenham Festival Betting Guide Jane Seymour Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle (Grade 2)
This is a quality-looking Grade 2 race. Nicky Henderson’s ASTON MARTINI is unbeaten in three starts and should have plenty more to come. She has to make the shortlist, but so does her stablemate, EITHER OR. She built on a promising debut second in a bumper when scoring on her hurdles debut last month and is a key player.
Tips: ASTON MARTINI, EITHER OR
15.05: Castel Royal Artillery Gold Cup (Chase For Military Amateur Jockeys)
BROKEN HALO won this last year and was running well in the Grand Military before he unseated his rider last month. He could gain compensation with a clear round, but FARCEUR DU LARGE was impressive in winning the formerly-mentioned race on his stable debut at this course and must be respected.
Tips: FARCEUR DU LARGE, BROKEN HALO
15.40 – Right Of The Line ‘National Hunt’ Novices’ Hurdle
VICTORIA MILANO defied large odds to make a winning hurdles/stable debut at Ludlow before backing that up to finish a fine second at Warwick. I can see her proving difficult to beat, though RISK DE PLUIE beat an odds-on favourite on her hurdles debut and is feared most.
Tips: VICTORIA MILANO, RISK DE PLUIE
16.15 – Spectra Group Alanbrooke Handicap Chase
HUDSON DE GRUGY always saves his best for this venue, and this three-time course winner ran really well when finishing third here on his return. He is back on his last winning mark and should be hard to beat. COPPERHEAD is dangerously well treated and could make an impact after hitting the frame the last twice.
Tips: HUDSON DE GRUGY, COPPERHEAD
