The California Baptists are fresh from a 15-point loss to the UCF Knights. A huge 33-point haul from Dominique Daniels Jr. couldn’t prevent the Lancers from slipping to their fourth-season defeat.

San Diego State Aztecs
Brian Dutcher led the Aztecs to 5th in the Mountain West last season, they finished with a 11-7 conference record and a 26-11 overall record.
Dutcher also got the Aztecs to the Sweet Sixteen in the 2024 NCAA Tournament. Their interest ended with a crushing 30-point defeat to UConn (82-52).
This season, San Diego is +3500 to make it to the Final Four and +15000 to win the 2025 National Championship.
So far, things are going well for the Aztecs. They entered the AP Top 25 in 24th place in week 5 and moved up one position to No.23 at the beginning of this week.
Part of the reason behind that one-position elevation was the 74-57 win over the San Diego Toreros last Saturday.

The victory in the Mountain West Conference opener earned the Aztecs the city bragging rights and got their conference play season off to a winning start.
The win also gave San Diego head coach Brian Dutcher his 100th home victory in charge of the Aztecs.
San Diego did make hard work of it. Things were tight at the halfway stage, with the Aztecs only two points ahead (33-31). But in the second period, San Diego powered away to a convincing 17-point victory.
The Aztecs sit second in Mountain West (1-0). It may be early days, but, along with Nevada, San Diego is the +300 joint-favorites to win the conference regular season.
Other notable mentions go to New Mexico (+350), Utah State (+450), and Boise State (+500). Mountain West Conference fixtures for the Aztecs will resume after Christmas.
CA Baptist
The California Baptist Lancers are 5-4 this season. At home, their record is 4-2, and on the road, it is 0-1. The Lancers are yet to play in the Western Athletic Conference, with matches not starting until the new year.
Rick Croy has been the Lancers’ head coach for over a decade. Last season, Croy led the Lancers to 8th in the WAC with an 8-12 conference record and 16-17 overall.
Previous conference finishes have been 8th (2022/23), 9th (2021/22), and 4th (2020/21). Overall, it’s fair to say the last few seasons have been difficult, and it’s also fair to say this campaign has started in a similar inconsistent fashion.
Cal Baptist started the season with back-to-back wins over UIW (83-78) and Kennesaw State (88-84), but since then it has been a case of lose one, win one.
The Lancers are far from the favorites in the betting to win the WAC regular season. The favorites are the Grand Canyon Antelopes at -380. They are followed by Seattle at +500, Utah Valley at +1000, and then, CA Baptist at +2500.
San Diego State Aztecs vs. CA Baptist Betting Picks
The Aztecs are 3-1 at home this season, the Lancers are 0-1 on the road. So it will be no surprise to read we are siding with San Diego.
The Aztecs are too short on the money line at -1200, so we are looking at the spread line for our pick.
San Diego State is 3-4-0 ATS this season, the Lancers have won only two games against the spread.
But, Cal Baptist doesn’t tend to get hammered when they lose. An 11-point defeat to Northern CO was their largest defeat until their last outing against the UCF Knights. And it’s the loss against the Knights that is pointing us towards siding with the Aztecs to cover.
The UCF Knights defeated the Lancers by 15 points (74-59). The Knights overpowered the Lancers in the second period, outsourcing them by 12 points.
San Diego did a similar thing against the doing a similar thing against the Toreros. And we can also see them doing it to the Lancers.
Our pick is for San Diego State to beat Cal Baptist and cover.
