Golden State’s losing skid
Golden State almost ended their five game losing streak on Saturday night, but rookie Chet Holmgren hit a game-tying 3 with three seconds left and the Thunder came away with a 130-123 overtime victory. After being one of the best home teams in the NBA last season, the Warriors have lost five consecutive games at the Chase Center.
“With a losing streak like this, there’s urgency for sure,” said Steph Curry after his team’s latest loss. “When it’s this many in a row it’s a problem you’ve got to fix. You don’t want to develop a losing mentality.”

The Ime Udoka effect
Houston is coming off a 105-104 loss to the Lakers on Sunday night after a season-high 37 points from LeBron James. They also dropped a game to the Clippers on Friday, but were riding a six-game win streak before the two losses in Los Angeles over the weekend. That included a 107-104 home triumph over Denver last Sunday.
All and all, the early returns look good on the $7 million per year contract handed to Ime Udoka this summer. The Rockets are No. 4 in defensive rating and their young players are improving. Alperin Sengun is averaging 19.8 points, 8.2 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game, while fellow third-year man Jalen Green is averaging 19.1 points and 4.6 rebounds.
Golden State vs Houston
Golden State is a 7.5-point home favorite on Monday with the over/under set at 221.5 points. The Warriors are just 6-8 against the spread this season with a miserable 1-6 ATS mark at home.
However, Houston has yet to win a road game (0-4). Ime Udoka’s club opened the year with consecutive losses in Orlando and San Antonio, reeled off six straight wins at home, and then dropped two games in Los Angeles over the weekend.
Ime Udoka is giving the Rockets accountability and direction. But that’s not the only reason why the Rockets are 6-3. It’s his detail and ability to adjust on the fly.

Best Bet
While the Rockets are playing on back-to-back nights, the travel from LA to the Bay Area isn’t too grueling and they’re a young team with fresh legs. This is also Ime Udoka’s first chance to avenge the NBA Finals loss he suffered to Golden State as the coach of the Celtics in 2022.
We like the Warriors to end their six-game losing streak, but we’ll take a hungry Houston team to cover (+7.5) with the UNDER 221.5.
