Ripon Tips: Urban Decay to come of age

Ripon Tips: Urban Decay to come of age

  • By Admin

It’s off to the undulations of Ripon on Tuesday evening for a seven-race card. The opening race is due to start at 16:20, while the going is expected to be good-good to firm in places.

The North Yorkshire action is highlighted by a pair of Class 4 handicaps at 18:00 and 18:30 on what promises to be a fantastic night at the Garden Racecourse.

Selections

  • 18:00 – Oso Rapido @ 6/1
  • 18:30 – Urban Decay @ 11/2
  • 19:30 – Paco’s Pride @ 2/1

18:00 – Oso Rapido @ 6/1

Oso Rapido got his head in front at Redcar last time out, and the six-year-old looks a good bet to follow up in the six-furlong handicap at 18:00.

The winning margin was just a head at Redcar, but Oso Rapido was involved in a protracted front-running battle on that occasion, and the front two pulled well clear of the third.

Roger Fell & Sean Murray’s charge has been nudged up 4lbs for that victory, and it’s a minor step up in class this evening, but the six-year-old won off a mark of 81 last year, and it would be no surprise if Oso Rapido followed up off 78 today.

18:30 – Urban Decay @ 11/2

The lightly-raced Urban Decay looks like a fair bet in the fillies’ handicap run over a mile at 18:30.

Michael Bell’s charge is having just her fourth career start, and the three-year-old looked a nice prospect when picking up well to score at Southwell in April. Urban Decay ran pretty green that day, suggesting there would be more to come, and she’s now had time to mature.

The daughter of Frankel was beaten at Wolverhampton last time out, but she did too much from the front when stepping up in trip on that occasion, and compensation could await this evening.

19:30 – Paco’s Pride @ 2/1

Paco’s Pride has been running consistently well, and Roger Varian’s runner can get her head in front in the mile handicap at 19:30.

The three-year-old was a good third after attempting to make all of the running at Salisbury last time out, and this evening’s contest looks a weaker race. Prior to that, Paco’s Pride had run well at Brighton, and the undulations of Ripon should hold any fears for Varian’s charge.
