Redcar Tips: Pair of Russell runners make up a treble of outsiders at Redcar

  • By Admin

We are well and truly nearing the end of the Flat season, but there is still plenty of good racing to come within the code before the courses close for winter and Redcar host a decent card on Friday.

There are eight races at the North Yorkshire venue, underway from 13:35 until 17:38, and we’ve picked out a trio of outsider selections from the card.

Redcar Betting Tips

  • 13:35 – Blazing Son @ 7/1
  • 14:45 – Dain Ma Nut In @ 8/1
  • 17:38 – Stockbridge Tap @ 12/1

13:35 – Blazing Son @ 7/1

Our first tip comes from the opening race in the form of Blazing Son, who won here over course and distance back in 2022 and looks likely to be suited by the forecast slow ground.

The five-year-old’s win here came on heavy ground and with the going already reading soft on Thursday morning, with plenty more rain to come, the mudlover may get the same conditions come Friday.

That win was his only success on turf, having not had the luxury of the same conditions since, and he has placed in five of nine runs on soft so his chances will clearly increase as the rain continues to arrive in Yorkshire.

Having landed successive all-weather wins in the spring, he found himself with an official rating of 71 which proved difficult to manoeuvre from without ideal conditions, however, he is back on his last winning mark of 68 and can go well again for Bryan Smart.

14:45 – Dain Ma Nut In @ 8/1

Lucinda Russell’s gelding showed some promise on his debut earlier this month, when switching to the nearside to make headway late on to finish fourth in a Class 5 novice at Catterick.

He fluffed the start before improving into fourth that day, which is made more impressive when you consider that he was the sole newcomer and held his own in a field against some well-bred horses.

Additionally, Russell is known for her exceptional record with two-year-olds and any dose of improvement from Dain Ma Nut In on his second start could see her land another winner in the age group.

The booking of an in-form Rossa Ryan may just bring that needed boost too as he is operating at a 25% strike-rate (14-57) over the past fortnight and could make the in-race adjustments to land a maiden victory for the gelding.

17:38 – Stockbridge Tap @ 12/1

Russell also saddles our final selection, Stockbridge Tap, who looks a solid each-way bet in the last race of the card, a 1m2f Handicap.

Her yard has been in exceptional form of late, winning with seven of her last 31 runners (23%), and her six-year-old could go well in Yorkshire.

The gelding finished third at Ayr last week, just 1 1⁄2 lengths behind the winner Bashful, which is an impressive effort given the victor is a heavy-ground specialist who has won twice and finished second in his only three runs with that going description.

With slow underfoot conditions likely at Redcar, Stockbridge Tap can build on that effort to land this wide open closing contest.
